National Landscapes and Parks in the UK

The UK is home to some truly breathtaking backdrops, many of which have been designated National Landscapes and National Parks to preserve the natural beauty and biodiversity of the land. Step into chocolate-box scenes as you stroll through the undulating, honey-dipped charms of the Cotswolds or marvel at the heather-topped wilderness of the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors. In Cornwall, around one-third of the county is a designated National Landscape, while the Lake District and Peak District promise mountainous National Parks full of grandeur and jaw-dropping walking trails. And not forgetting the incredible parks found in the Scottish Highlands, which boast shimmering lochs, towering peaks, and woodlands that paint the mountainsides in verdant strokes. Or, if it’s coastal adventures you’re seeking, head to Pembrokeshire Coast National Park for Blue Flag beaches and picturesque seaside villages full of colour. If you want to immerse yourself in the great outdoors, there’s nowhere better than the UK.
Things to do in the UK

With a rich history that spans millennia and stretches across the country in waves of ancient settlements, stones, and structures, the UK is a fascinating place to explore. From ruins that offer a peek into the past to impressive fortresses that look like they haven’t aged a day, the country’s castles offer an impressive backdrop to your travels (and many blockbuster films), while incredible natural landmarks show a glimpse at the country’s geological past, from the famous stacks in Sussex and the Isle of Wight to the dramatic rock formations at Cheddar Gorge in Somerset and Malham Cove in Yorkshire, and even the odd magical waterfall for good measure. Turning your gaze to the skies, visit one of the UK’s incredible Dark Skies Sites for a breathtaking celestial display. If you visit the North of England and Scotland, you might even catch a glimpse of the elusive Northern Lights. Crossing the country in a variety of trails, cycle paths offer the perfect way to explore the UK under your own pedal power, or you can hop on one of the many steam trains for a scenic ride through the countryside.
