Classic Area Manager, Jodie Smith, wins Cornwall's 30 under 30

In the news

Cornwall Chamber of Commerce recently announced their ‘30 under 30’ award-winners and Classic are delighted to announce that our Area Manager for South West Cornwall, Jodie Smith, is one of the winners!

30 under 30 is an annual event, organised by Cornwall Chamber of Commerce to recognise inspiring young people in business. Jodie says: ‘I feel very honoured to be recognised for my work and to represent the young workforce in Cornwall, and especially Classic Cottages!

Balancing work and parenting can be tricky, but I would never be able to do it if it wasn’t for the support of my family, and also my workplace, Classic Cottages.

Classic has been voted one of the best places to work for in Cornwall, and I am very proud to have earned a place in this amazing team.’

Jodie joined Classic in 2023 and has been a brilliant addition to our property team. Having graduated with a first class honours degree in Business and Digital Marketing prior to starting her role at Classic, Jodie says: ‘I first started working in hospitality at eighteen for a holiday company in Greece. I then came home and worked at a hotel on the Helford River for seven and a half years, and during this time I built my house in the Cornish countryside and started a family.

Once the house was complete, I began my Business and Digital Marketing degree at Falmouth University. I completed my degree while working at the hotel, and secured a first class Bachelor of Science with honours.

My first post graduate job was as a PA to the owner of a boatbuilding company, specialising in Super Yacht tenders, which was fast paced and exciting. I then started working at Classic in January 2023, which given my history, skills and knowledge, was the perfect role for me.’

We asked Jodie a few quick-fire questions about her role at Classic and how she enjoys spending her time outside of her role as an Area Manager:

What has been your greatest achievement in your career to date?

Securing my dream career as Area Manager at Classic Cottages!

What do you enjoy most about your role?

I love the dynamics of my role, how every day is different and working alongside like-minded individuals to create a truly special experience for guests.

What’s your favourite thing to do outside of work?

Of course that would be spending time with my children; we spend a lot of time in Coverack playing on the beach and in the water, but to be honest, we love to just be at home together in the garden and on the family farm.

Congratulations again to Jodie, and all of the fantastic winners and nominees!
