Ventnor has developed a reputation as the ‘place to eat’ on the Island. The choice and variety of cuisine is superb, with Canteena and The Bistro among the many eating places to choose from. There is also a traditional family-friendly pub, The Spyglass, situated on the seafront with an amazing outdoor seating area directly over the sea. Ventnor’s red shingle and golden sand beach has vintage beach huts, that once had wheels, which transported the gentry down to the sea. The cascade road winds its way around a rocky waterfall to arrive on the seafront where there is a bandstand with 360 degree views from its lofty viewing platform. Inside the Haven is a short pier used by local fishermen; they sell fresh fish and there is a side window serving fish and chips, holiday heaven! Bonchurch is a short distance in the other direction; a charming village on the sea with a wonderful pub called The Bonchurch Inn, specialising in Italian cuisine. Ventnor allegedly has the most hours of sunshine in the UK, what is not to love!
