The Classic team recently spent a weekend exploring the vibrant seaside town of Falmouth in South Cornwall.
Pack a weekend bag and make your way to Falmouth for a few days away by the sea. The perfect destination for a short break, you’ll find a brilliant selection of things to do, with four beautiful beaches, an excellent choice of cafés, restaurants, and shops, and lots to explore within easy reach of the town, including Cornwall’s glorious Helford River and the Roseland Peninsula.
We’ve put together a guide to 48 hours in Falmouth, including a few of our favourite things to do and the best places to eat. Enjoy!
Saturday
Morning
Start the morning off with a stroll to Stones Bakery on the Old High Street to pick up some delicious pastries for breakfast (best enjoyed with your morning coffee and a sea view in your waterside getaway, of course!).

Go for a wander around The Old High Street, with its delightful selection of shops, including Kiandles, Ash, and Greenbank Books, and enjoy a spot of pottery painting at Starglazers. Afterwards, make your way to Killigrew Street, to admire the colourful cafés and shops, from Espressini to Lowena Flower Shop, where you can pick up a gift or a fresh bouquet.

Afternoon
Head to the 7-acre Kimberley Park to crunch through autumn leaves, or, in the spring, take some photos in the golden sunshine surrounded by the beautiful displays. Next, retrace your steps and head to the main high street, brimming with coffee shops and independent boutiques. One of our favourite places has to be Beerwolf Books, a charming place doubling up as both a second-hand bookshop and a pub. We spent a good hour here browsing the bookshelves and finding some treasures to take home with us.

Next, stop for coffee at the cosy café, Leroys, named after the owner’s gorgeous dog - you’ll probably get to meet Leroy himself while you’re there! Pick up a few gifts at Willow and Stone and The Painted Bird, browse the fantastic selection of charity shops, and stop for lunch at Sabzi, a vibrant Middle Eastern deli serving deliciously fresh food bursting with flavour - definitely one of the best places to eat in Falmouth! Nab a seat by the window to make the most of the sea views.

After lunch, follow the high street along to Events Square, where you’ll find the National Maritime Museum. Explore the fantastic SURF exhibition, which celebrates 100 years of Cornish surfing, and delve into the stories of the sea and its effect on our lives today.

There are plenty of incredible restaurants for supper, where will you choose?! Some of our favourites include Kona, Cribbs, and Harbour Lights for award-winning fish and chips!
Sunday
Morning
After a leisurely Sunday morning lie-in and brunch in bed, enjoy a scenic walk through the town and along the coastline to Gylly Beach, where you can stop for a sauna session at Kiln Sauna, before continuing to the sheltered sandy shores of Swanpool Beach. Enter the azure waters for a quick dip or a paddleboard, and enjoy a hot chocolate or ice cream (with all the toppings, of course) from the beach café.
Afternoon

Once you start feeling peckish, stroll up the hill to Beach House for a delicious lunch, with captivating views across the water. We shared gnocchi arrabiata, burrata with fig, honey, chicory, and walnut, and some fresh focaccia. The service and food were excellent, and the idyllic setting was the cherry on the cake!

Make your way back to town, perhaps taking a little detour for a slice of cake at Castle Beach Café on the way, and return to your cottage to put your feet up and soak up more of those spectacular waterside views.
