Camping in the UK: something saved for those glorious sunny days of August and only attempted by serious enthusiasts at any other time of the year. Unless you take the luxury option: Glamping.
Days of freedom in the woods, exploring the great outdoors and nights sitting under the stars toasting marshmallows by the fire. We all have incredible childhood memories of camping holidays with family. From Woolacombe to Dartmouth, Devon is the home of family camping.
Now that you’re a little more grown up, you’ll find that camping has grown with you. Late night trips to the shower block in the rain and waking up to half a tent fallen in on your face are a thing of the past. Camping has become Glamping, a luxury yet still outdoors-y experience in the beauty of the British wilderness. A saviour for those who are in touch with Mother Nature but love home comforts on their holiday.
Glamping in Devon brings a brilliant sense of freedom, from where you stay to the places you can visit, there's plenty of options. Head to Dartmouth for a wander through the shops, a tour of the castle and a bite to eat or take a river taxi from the quay to discover Agatha Christie’s Greenway for the day. Find your way into the heart of Dartmoor and walk the many paths and tors, admiring the ponies along the way. For a breath of fresh air, visit the north coast for blustery clifftops and beautiful autumn landscapes.
The perfect alternative to a tent is a Yurt. These beautiful round pods ooze glamour and luxury while still giving off that air of being closer to nature. Poppy Yurt is a traditional canvas tent in south Devon but, don't be fooled, no detail has been missed in this beautiful home from home. From cushions and linens piled high on the beds to a wooden deck base to avoid any leaks, this is a quirky alternative to your usual holiday cottage.
Our collection of Cedar Yurts in south Devon, just outside of Dittisham, make the perfect home from home. Each one sleeps up to five people but we think they’re great for a couple’s weekend away. With a wood-burner inside and a wood-fired hot tub outside, you’ll have plenty of reasons to cosy up with your loved one while on holiday.
Just inland from the north Devon coast, sits the picturesque Rosewood Yurt. Decorated with bunting and a hanging chandelier, this is a luxury retreat for two or a fun countryside getaway with family. A meadow on your doorstep means there's plenty of space for kids to play or for grown ups to simply enjoy nature in the seclusion.
