Lanthorns Retreat is a charming rustic cabin for two, nestled in a quiet corner of the owners' land. Located in the centre of the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it's an idyllic location for long walks and cycling enthusiasts with plenty of storage for bikes. It's the perfect couple's escape to the countryside and only a short drive from the lively market town of Honiton, where you'll find an array of coffee shops and cafes for a spot of lunch, or you can browse independent shops and rummage through the many antiques and interesting bookshops.

Unwind on a sunny afternoon in the private courtyard with a glass of wine looking onto glorious tranquil views of the flourishing Devonshire countryside, and say hello to the owners many animals including horses, dogs, hens and a cockerel who can be rather lively, especially at 6am! On warm evenings, enjoy al fresco dining and cook up a storm with a tasty barbecue.

The cabin is comfortable with just the right amount of creature comforts; hot shower, comfy bed, kitchen with electric oven and hob, fridge with ice-box, microwave, toaster and kettle. The owner is happy for you to use their washing machine on request.

This area is excellent walking country, with plenty to explore along country lanes and the network of footpaths that link the hamlets and villages nearby. Just a short drive away renowned Ashill Inn offers real ales, excellent food and a friendly atmosphere.. For the adventurous try a session at the local gliding club just down the road - you will certainly get some panoramic views of the hills that way! The stunning Jurassic Coast is a very easy drive - you can join it at Regency Sidmouth just the other side of Honiton, but don't miss Budleigh Salterton, Beer and Branscombe. Spend an afternoon at beautiful Killerton House, a National Trust house with wonderful gardens and cafe. The sophisticated town of Wellington is only eight miles away and worth a visit.
