Whippingham is famous for the beautiful St Mildred’s Church, designed by Prince Albert himself after a castle in the Rhine. The history that sits among the buildings in the village only increases the magic of this gorgeous place. Down by the river you’ll also find the Folly Inn, a great pub for spending an afternoon or evening enjoying those long summer days. Being slightly off the beaten track means that Whippingham is a fairly quiet place to enjoy your Isle of Wight holiday.
Nearby you have Osborne House, a great day out for all the family. Spend a day exploring the house and grounds, learning about the history of the place. East Cowes is also on your doorstep and a quick hop across the river is Cowes, a central location for all things sailing.
Around 10 minutes south of Whippingham is Newport with a huge choice of shops and restaurants to while away a rainy day. Along the coast to the east, you’ll find some pretty seaside towns to explore. Ryde, Seaview, Bembridge and St Helens are lovely to visit in the summer months or on a crisp chilly day.
