Flushing Cottages
On the South coast of Cornwall, Flushing is an excellent central point for adventures all around Cornwall. Our holiday cottages in the village offer some great water side views within a stone’s throw of pretty sandy beaches and lush green woodland. Rumour has it that this area enjoys the mildest climate in the country, a perfect oasis all year round.Read more
Steeped in the centre of Tudor history, Flushing was once considered by Henry VIII as a location for a castle. The village is nestled between Falmouth and Mylor Bridge, just off the Carrick Roads. There’s plenty to do on the waters around Flushing or take the trip across the river for a day out in Falmouth.
On a Sunday, take a wonderful coastal walk to Mylor with a stop at the legendary Pandora Inn for a tasty Sunday roast al fresco on the jetty. Arrive early as they sell out quickly. Pandora is open throughout the week so if you don’t fancy self catering one evening it’s a great place to find some tasty Cornish grub. Well renowned for sailing, you may find that some of the Pandora’s guests from Mylor arrive via water – a much easier way to get around this neck of the woods.
For a historical day out, visit Penryn to explore the pretty granite buildings of the high street. Most of the shops are filled with Cornish trinkets made by artists who started out at Falmouth University, fell in love with the enchanting area and never left. Penryn is one of the oldest towns in the area, with parts of the town dating back to as early as the 13th century it really has seen it all. After Penryn, head for Falmouth’s Pendennis Castle to take in the panoramic views from St Mawes across to the Helford river. Imagine yourselves as knights or kings taking charge of the area all those years ago.
An ideal spot for families to explore the rest of Cornwall especially if you fancy ditching the car this holiday, Flushing offers beautiful water side views and walks mixed with great transport on the water. Our cottages in Flushing are perfect for couples looking for a Cornish hideaway with an excellent location for getting out and about if you fancy it.
