KingThis enchanting 'picture postcard' cottage in the tranquil setting of Devoran is the kind of place where you arrive and then instantly relax. Surrounded by beautiful Cornish countryside, this blissful haven offers understated luxury and cosy charm to create the ultimate retreat. With a pretty garden and sea views from the majority of bedrooms you're sure to fall in love with Tregoose Farmhouse.
Arriving via verdant lanes, you are met with whitewashed walls and a thatched roof at this superb traditional home. Stepping inside, a charming flagstone hallway greets you, its walls lined with a full bookcase that immediately sets a warm and welcoming tone. Every space has been thoughtfully curated with a relaxed yet refined feel and at the heart of the home, the stylish modern farmhouse kitchen/diner is just perfect for slow mornings and long, laughter-filled suppers. The sitting-room is irresistibly inviting with a large velvet corner sofa waiting to be sunk into, where on a hot summer's day you can open the windows and feel the gentle summer breeze, or on a cooler evening snuggle up in front of the softly flickering wood-burner. There is a cosy reading nook at the far end of the sitting-room with plenty of fabulous things to read should you want a moment of peace and quiet. There also a handy cloakroom on the ground floor.
Upstairs, four beautifully restful bedrooms offer their own sense of calm; each bedroom has been beautifully decorated each with their own name and style. Up two steps to the principal bedroom, (Tamar) this spacious room enjoys a private dressing-area, a super-king bed and a beautifully appointed en suite, complete with both bath and shower; perfect for indulgent soaks after a day by the sea. The second bedroom, (Fowey) with its flexible 'zip and link' bed, is effortlessly elegant with relaxing green tones and views out to sea, over the rolling countryside, so make sure you enjoy a slow morning watching the tide ebb and flow. The Helford bedroom also has a versatile 'zip and link' arrangement, ideal for families or friends and finally, tucked beneath a charmingly sloping ceiling, the fourth bedroom, (Fal) is a cosy and characterful hideaway with a double bed suitable for one guest. From several rooms (Fowey, Helford and Tamar) you have stunning views over the Cornish countryside out to sea watching the ever-changing landscape. You'll also find the family bathroom on this floor with its beautiful green tiles over the bath-with overhead shower.
Just across the courtyard from the main Farmhouse is the annexe (The Barton) offering a great additional space for larger parties. The annexe has a light and airy open plan living area, with exposed beams and a vaulted ceiling creating a wonderful sense of space. A well-equipped Shaker-style kitchen sits alongside a comfortable seating area, perfect for relaxed mornings and cosy evenings in. A secluded sleeping area with a king-size bed is set just off the main space, complemented by a stylish bathroom featuring a free-standing bath and separate shower. It also has its own little courtyard outside too.
The outside space at Tregoose Farmhouse is such a sun-trap being south-facing. Stepping out of the kitchen or the sitting-room you will find a sun-drenched, south-facing patio spanning the front of the cottage with a table, just perfect for a morning coffee, leisurely lunches, or golden-hour dining under open skies. There is also comfortable furniture for lounging on and soaking up the sun. Over the car parking area and up the slope is the large sunny garden which is beautiful with its expansive lawn, pretty borders and soft planting, creating a sense of seclusion and natural beauty. Why not enjoy a picnic or slip off with a refreshing G&T at the end of the day and take in the view from the bench at the top of the garden, where you can see for miles.
Restronguet Creek is an idyllic spot on the Fal estuary, perfect for wildlife lovers, walkers and anyone seeking peace and tranquility. Tregoose Farmhouse is situated a short drive from the King Harry Ferry, which carries you over to the stunning Roseland peninsula.
The maritime town of Falmouth has a great selection of eclectic shops, boutiques and cafes, and a fabulous maritime museum the whole family will enjoy. A passenger ferry leaves the harbourside from here over the Carrick Roads to St Mawes on the Roseland and the lesser-known areas such as Place and Flushing.
Further west and the dramatic Lizard peninsula awaits. Head for Kynance Cove, a spectacular headland with stunning views, or perhaps Lizard Point lighthouse the most southerly point in England (and a great place to sample a Cornish cream tea). However you plan to spend your blissful holiday days, Tregoose Farmhouse is the perfect holiday home for all your Cornish adventures.
