Grittleton is a picturesque Wiltshire village situated on the edge of the Cotswolds and is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Both ancient and unspoiled, the Grittleton Estate was formally owned by the Neeld family with one of the most notable buildings in the village being Grittleton House. Formerly an independent school, then a family home, it is now a wedding and event venue.

The village has a history dating for many centuries and lies near to the Fosse Way, Roman road and boasts an excellent village pub, The Neeld Arms - this 17th Century country inn boasts roaring log fires in the winter and has areas to eat outside in the Summer. Alternatively, the award-winning Salutation Inn at The Gibb is on the edge of the parish of Castle Combe and well worth a visit.

As locations go, Grittleton is the perfect base to explore a wide variety of attractions including the many pretty villages in the Cotswolds. An eight minute drive takes you to the pretty village of Castle Combe -famously dubbed as a filmmaker's paradise the village has featured on the big screen in many films including War Horse, Dr Dolittle and Stardust. Look out for the cottages selling homemade cake outside their doors and the nearby hamlet of Tiddleywink too!
