Meet Polly the Lorry, a converted horsebox that has been transformed by its owners into a delightfully secluded retreat in the beautifully unspoilt countryside of north Devon. Made from mostly recycled materials, this adorable hideaway is full of stripped back charm and provides the ideal place to snuggle up and enjoy a unique getaway.

The beautifully rural appeal of Polly's weathered exterior is continued inside with gorgeous wooden textures and fabulous pastel tones giving the space plenty of character. This rustic charm is complemented by the many luxuries dotted around the horsebox, ensuring you enjoy a wonderfully comfortable visit.

An indulgent wood-burning stove is tucked in the corner by the kitchen, keeping the lorry nice and cosy on cooler days. The compact off-grid kitchen has everything you will need to prepare delicious meals for you and your loved ones, with a gas hob and oven beautifully integrated into the gorgeous wooden cupboards and worktops. When it comes to ingredients, the fantastic owners encourage you to take what you fancy from their delightfully well-stocked vegetable patch.

A fabulous breakfast-bar sits next to the kitchen which is capable of folding up against the wall to allow more space in the lorry should you need it. A wonderful wooden bench covered in plush, inviting cushions provides a great place to enjoy your morning cup of coffee and also acts as one of the fabulously integrated storage sections dotted around your lorry meaning you have plenty of space for your holiday essentials.

At the end of the lorry sits the cosy double bed, raised up from the rest of the room as it sits above the lorry's driving cabin. Its position ensures an incredibly snug and intimate feeling as soon as you crawl into bed after a long day out exploring the surrounding countryside. For the little ones, the aforementioned bench can be transformed into a brilliant sofa bed that provides ample space for two children (up to the age of ten) to enjoy a great night's sleep.

The shower-room for Polly the Lorry can be found a few steps away in the small horse trailer. Here you will find everything you will need to freshen up after a day on the beach with a modern shower and wash-basin accompanying a flushing loo.

Along with a supremely cosy interior, Polly the Lorry also comes with plenty of fabulous outside space to relax in. A small wooden deck sits attached to the lorry, providing the perfect spot for al fresco dining in the cool summer breeze. The lorry itself is perched in the corner of a wonderful field that is free to roam around and great for enjoying the Devonshire sun. A fire-pit provides the perfect place to relax as you gaze up towards the stars after a busy day. Through a small gate you will find a secluded woodland clearing with a charming bench and the most delightful hammock to enjoy your favourite book.

Please note that Polly the Lorry welcomes four guests, two adults and up to two children aged between two and ten years old.

Once you've settled into your Devonshire home-from-home, there is plenty to discover if you venture further afield. For amenities, the nearby village of Chittlehampton is perfect and home to the lovely Bell Inn, a friendly-family pub that has great local and seasonal food and drink.

Chittlehampton is close to South Molton, known as the gateway to Exmoor. South Molton is a picturesque town with independent shops and a thriving market that takes place twice a week in the main square. Be sure to head here for a delicious array of local produce to bring back to your hideaway. And if you fancy a little refreshment while exploring, there are plenty of lovely cafes and eateries to try throughout the town.

Exmoor National Park is only a short drive from Polly and for those who love adventure it is well worth a visit. Exmoor is home to some of England's most untouched woodlands, river-valleys, rambling lanes, high clifftops, unbeatable views and pretty villages.

In terms of nearby beaches, you're spoiled for choice with Westward Ho!, Woolacombe and Croyde all nearby. Alternatively, if you fancy a more sedate adventure, the National Trust's Arlington Court is a splendid day out and only a half-hour drive away.
