The joy of Basil Cottage is you have restaurants, pubs, delis and so much more right on your doorstep. You can even bring your own boat and use the public slipway, the estuary of the River Torridge is a favourite with sailors. How about surfing at Westward Ho!, Saunton Sands, Croyde or Woolacombe where there are miles of sandy beaches. Or you can simply sit on the quay, overlooking the estuary, and watch the flocks of migratory birds and the multi-coloured sailing boats as they come and go.
Before you go, you must browse through the galleries and antiques shops for a treat to take home. There is also an annual book festival so, if you time your stay right, you can enjoy some literary culture too!
