Bembridge is a charming village with a great selection of independent shops and eateries. There are four excellent pubs to choose from; the Old Village Inn is a short stroll away with cosy interiors and large outside space for al fresco dining or perhaps try The Pilot Boat Inn next to the harbour, a quirky bar with outside seating and maritime interiors. If you're shopping locally there's an excellent bakery, fishmongers, farm shop and legendary Woodfords Butchers, where locals head so it must be good! Fancy a takeaway, there's fish and chips and a Chinese to choose from, alongside a choice of cafes and restaurants. Blessed with five miles of dog-friendly beach, Bembridge is perfect if you are holidaying with your four-legged friend and you will also find a plethora of footpaths and bridle trails to explore too. The National Trust manage the last remaining windmill on the Island, and this is also just a stroll from the village centre. You may decide to enjoy your local surroundings and have a car free holiday, but if you do decide to travel further afield there is something for everyone here. Head for the sailing mecca of Cowes where you will find a lovely collection of independent shops and delightful views across the Solent. Whilst you are in the area why not visit Osborne House, once the home of Queen Victoria and a rather special place to see the house, exquisite gardens and private beach. West Wight is home to the iconic Needles, and you can take a chair lift to the beach and hop on a speed boat for a close-up view. The picturesque bay at Freshwater is beautiful and perfect for paddle boarding and swimming in the crystal-clear waters.
