Car Free in South Devon

Want to leave the car at the cottage and explore the wonders of South Devon? Read on to see what we suggest.

Day 1

Travel in style, under steam, on the Paignton and Dartmouth Steam Railway, from the seaside resort of Paignton to the bustling, picturesque little town of Dartmouth. From there you can combine your train ticket with a cruise around the harbour, or a trip up the River Dart to bohemian Totnes. To complete your journey an open top bus will take you back to Paignton. Alternatively, you can take the Greenway Ferry from Dartmouth to Greenway, where Agatha Christie used to spend her summers.

Day 2

Take a Canoe Adventure on the River Dart. You can choose how adventurous you want to be; trips can be tailored to suit everyone from small children, to adult novices, to bold explorers.

Day 3

Hire bikes or canoes from Saddles and Paddles for a day out exploring Exeter at a leisurely pace via its canals and towpaths.
