Market day in Hampshire

Whilst on holiday in a Hampshire cottage you will be sure to want to stock up on local produce to sample during your time with us. I don’t know about you, but one of my favourite things to do as a couple is go to a good country market and a car boot sale. Such a day out is pretty much a relationship goal, it is so simple, yet so enjoyable.

Lyndhurst and the New Forest ponies

We had driven through the town of Lyndhurst earlier in the day and made a note to stop off on our way back to our holiday cottage in Lymington, not least because of the large number of New Forest ponies we had seen just on the outskirts of the town.

Lattes and lunch in lycra - a cycle in Somerset

While my husband now conforms to the current male phenomena that is a ‘MAMIL’ (Middle-Aged Man In Lycra) I’d describe myself more of a ‘leisure cyclist’ (I push my bike up hills).

The Tarka Trail

Fancy going off-road but want it easy-going? Hit the Tarka Trail. This 35 mile former railway line is a Sustrans benchmark in more ways than one. It’s free of traffic (bar the odd horse), fills you in on the history and the wildlife as you go and lays on a series of artist-made benches, each one acting as a resting place, waymarker or shelter.

Tremayne Quay Picnic Walk

We wanted to go on a picnic. And the best kind of picnic usually involves a bit of a ramble to walk off those scones, as long as you don't have to carry the hamper too far. So, we chose Tremayne Quay near Mawgan on the Lizard peninsula, Cornwall.

Tregonning Hill Barefoot walk

Inspired by our encounter with Steve Bloor and the Godolphin House Barefoot Trail, we decided to try out our own walk with naked feet, so we hot-footed it over to nearby Tregonning Hill.
