Set high on the slopes above the picturesque village of Cadgwith, with magnificent views of the cove and the sea, Lofty’s Cottage is one of a row of former coastguard cottages accessed by a leafy unmade lane. This welcoming, characterful cottage, whose namesake was a local fisherman, still retains many original features. The big double bedroom offers guests a spectacular view from the gorgeous oak bed, and downstairs, beyond the large kitchen/dining-room, the cosy south-facing sitting-room has a French door opening onto steps leading to the sunny garden and its equally breathtaking views. The cottage provides the perfect relaxing holiday with the beach, its fishing boats and the excellent village pub just a leisurely stroll down the steep hill.
Last but one in the terrace, Lofty’s Cottage is approached across a small rear courtyard. Steeped in seafaring history the cottage exudes authenticity, from the tiny ornamental Victorian fireplaces upstairs to the little nook off the spacious double bedroom – where in a bygone era the coastguard may well have spent his long hours on watch. Cadgwith is a thriving, friendly and welcoming community, and Lofty's Cottage is the ideal base from which to explore the cove, the spectacular coastal footpaths nearby, and rest of the beautiful Lizard peninsula.
