Zip and linkNestled in a peaceful nook of rural south Cornwall you will find this charming traditional cottage; perfectly located to explore this stunning part of the county. The large dramatic coastline on the north coast and the softer coves and hidden creeks of the south coast are all within easy reach of The Grove.
Arriving through verdant lanes blooming with wildflowers in the spring, you will be greeted by your pretty holiday home. Park up and hear nothing but the wind rustling in the trees and let your stresses instantly float away. Open the front door and you are greeted with a stunning panelled entrance hall and beautiful stone flooring offering a warm and welcoming arrival. To your right is a super cosy sitting-room with a stunning fireplace with a wood-burner. With its pretty panelling and William Morris fabrics, this inviting space feels perfectly in keeping with the home’s relaxed countryside-chic character.
On the other side of the entrance hall is the dining-room which also has a warming wood-burner; there is nothing better than exploring for the day and returning to The Grove to enjoy long, hearty meals with the flickering flames where time will just disappear and conversation flows.
Up four steps from the dining-room into the cottage kitchen, which is ever so light and well-equipped. The newly refurbished kitchen remains true to the style of the cottage with beautiful tiles, a traditional Belfast sink and a stunning electric Everhot which really adds to the cottage’s charm. The thoughtful owners have also provided a two-ring electric hob and a combi microwave, as well as the essential wine fridge. In the warmer months, open the stable-door to the sheltered patio where all you can hear is the tweeting birds and rustling trees. The family bathroom is on the same level as the kitchen with a lovely L-shaped bath and overhead shower.
On the first floor are the two bedrooms with their vaulted ceilings and exposed beams – please watch your head. The principal bedroom is tucked into the eaves creating a cosy space to ensure a good night’s slumber, with a large king-size bed and low windows, where you can gaze out at the countryside, which is so relaxing, you may even be lucky enough to see the horse in the field opposite the property. The second bedroom has ‘zip and link’ beds to provide flexible sleeping for your party, be it family or friends.
The garden at the rear of the property is accessed via the stable-door from the kitchen; just outside the back door is an outside sink and hose for washing those muddy boots or salty swimming gear. Up a few steps is the pebbled courtyard where you are surrounded by lush woodland. The Grove boasts 20 acres of private woodland located 200 yards away for guests to enjoy should you want to take the dog for a stroll through here or go hunting for fairies with your little ones (please note, care should be taken), and also includes approximately 400 yards of single bank fishing on the Fal so don't forget your fishing rods. Electric vehicle charging is available, payable via an App.
The Grove is ideally situated in the heart of the county making it the perfect place to stay for exploring. Only a two minute walk from The Grove is Treway farm shop, open every Friday with a range of local produce on offer so the chef of the group can cook up a delicious feast. The picture-perfect Roseland peninsula (National Landscapes) is only a short drive away and offers hidden coves, secluded beaches and a fabulous undulating stretch of the coast path. St Mawes has a great selection of shops and eateries, visit the bustling harbour where you can sit and enjoy an ice cream whilst watching yachts bobbing in the estuary, or perhaps take the ferry over the water to the cosmopolitan town of Falmouth with it fabulous National Maritime Museum.
Portscatho, further round the peninsula from St Mawes, is a picturesque village packed with everything you need for a great holiday and a visit to The Hidden Hut is a must. If you're looking for a day out with a difference, try the Eden Project with its magnificent biomes or perhaps The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Charlestown with its superb Georgian harbour and home to a fleet of square rigger ships should also be on your list, and Ross Poldark would attest to that!
