TwinNestled in the heart of gently rolling countryside, protected by the National Trust, Higher Pencobben, accessed by a private lane, is a beautiful rural home offering a haven of peace and tranquility just outside of the village of Gwithian.
Surrounded by fields of golden buttercups in the spring and serenaded by the soft flutter of butterflies and soothing bird song and an abundance of rabbits bouncing over the fields, this exceptionally secluded escape offers pure, unspoilt serenity, a world away from the bustle of everyday life. By contrast to the peaceful location, this gorgeous property is in close proximity to keen surfers' Atlantic swells on some of the most stunning stretches of sand in the area. Whether chasing barrels at Godrevy or carving mellow lines at Hayle Towans, this is where serious surfers gear up.
The house which sleeps up to nine guests exudes rustic charm, with thoughtful vintage touches that create a sense of timeless comfort. A retro record player fills the air with nostalgic melodies while classic board games invite leisurely afternoons by the open fire. Every window frames a picturesque view of surrounding meadows, bathing the interiors in natural light and pastoral charm.
The heart of the home is the characterful kitchen and dining area lovingly styled with a blend of eclectic furnishings and charming artwork. Whether you are preparing a hearty breakfast or enjoying a special dinner with friends, the space feels warm and welcoming and full of personality.
On the ground floor alongside the kitchen and dining area, you will find a luxurious king-size bedroom, a cosy twin room and a peaceful single room all sharing a family shower-room. Upstairs offers even more space with a huge king-size bedroom and a sweet twin room, all bedrooms have breathtaking views. A family bathroom is the perfect place to soak away the day after a relaxing walk, of which there are many directly from the door. The sitting-room invites you to curl up beside the crackling fire, spin a record, deal a deck of cards or simply gaze out at the rolling fields from the comfort of the sofa.
Step outside into the enclosed front and back gardens, which naturally blend into the surrounding countryside, ideal for family fun and quiet refection. Enjoy evenings around the fire-pit, sizzling up a barbecue under a starlit sky or sipping a glass of wine in the silence of nature.
Despite its seclusion, this tranquil haven is just a short drive to Lula cafe/restaurant renowned for a hearty breakfast, fantastic seafood and vibrant Cornish dishes. A surf school is also based here so call ahead and book your lessons. This very special cottage is a short distance to miles of golden sands stretching along the stunning coast, Hayle Towans, Gwithian and Godrevy offer some of the most breathtaking and unspoiled scenery in the UK. Together they form a sweeping golden crescent of beach backed by wild dunes and cleaned by ever changing Atlantic tide.
From the cliffs above Godrevy the views are simply staggering, a panorama of endless sea and sky with dramatic waves crashing below. From here you can view Mutton Cove, not accessible by foot, with its renowned grey seal colony, a haven for them to haul out and rest. You can observe these majestic animals from the clifftops, especially during low tide when they are most visible on the sands. You can admire the views to St Ives across the bay with its whitewashed cottages nestled around the coastline, take the time to visit for a day and appreciate the galleries and artisan cafes and the unique light that draws so many talented creatives to the area.
Your canine companion can join in the fun at this dog-friendly place. Wild, romantic and deeply restorative, this is coastal Cornwall at its most magical.
