Bath Christmas Market has been delighting visitors for 25 years, often featuring amongst the best Christmas markets in Europe! Well, with a magical Christmas village hosting a dazzling winter market and one of the best ice rinks in the UK, it’s little surprise this seasonal Somerset festivity is so beloved.

Casting Bath’s beautiful city centre in twinkling light, the market promises cobbled streets lined with curious crafts and mulled wine vendors, inviting you to shop with wine in hand. Over 250 traders gather to ensure every shopping list is quickly ticked off, while street food galore promises full tums at every turn. The market is open until 8pm, Thursdays to Saturdays, so a spot of late-night shopping is always on the cards.

If ice skating is more your speed, the annual ice rink is a must. Located in Royal Victoria Park and open from the 14th of November to the 4th of January, this holiday favourite is the ultimate way to work up an appetite for mince pies. New for 2025, a Christmas Tree Maze invites you to work your way through the pine-scented puzzle before stopping by the new heated seating area for a mouth-watering wood-fired pizza.

Where to stay: A short drive from the hustle and bustle of Bath, Merryfields is the perfect place to retreat to after your Christmas shopping. Christmas at Blenheim Palace, the Cotswolds

The Cotswolds is home to many fascinating castles and historic buildings, but few quite as grand as Blenheim Palace. This incredible work of 18th-century architecture is well worth a visit throughout the year, but Christmas sees the Baroque-style house bedecked in festive finery, while its sprawling gardens alight with sparkling decorations and a fabulous light trail.

Oh yes, Christmas at Blenheim Palace is an experience to remember. Children will love following the yellow brick road through The Palace of Oz, while shoppers can delight in browsing the wooden chalets that make up the famous Christmas market. Stalls offer everything from handcrafted stocking fillers to palatial gifts, while the East Courtyard promises an array of street food stalls to warm the belly and soul.

The spectacular Observation Wheel offers panoramic views across the market, palace, and gardens beyond, inviting you to soak up the estate’s festive spirit in true whimsical style. Meanwhile, the ice rink offers the chance to test your balance amidst twinkling lights.
