Welcome to Maple Cottage, with its upside down construction and large windows which give you the feeling of sitting among the trees. Perched on the edge of the South Lakes and with a wonderful garden to explore the cottage is perfect for couples to enjoy a great getaway.

Entering from the parking area, overlooking the main garden you will find yourself in a useful utility-room. Here the owner, who lives on site, has thoughtfully provided picnic ware so you can enjoy a meal outside or even further afield. Through the modern, Shaker-style kitchen and up a couple of steps leads you to the cosy sitting-room with its wall of windows looking through the various trees. Enjoy some time watching the birds or just listening to the rustling of the leaves. From here take the stairs down to the bedroom with en suite shower-room and French doors leading onto a private patio, a great place to sit and relax in the shade.

This wonderful cottage has an abundance of outdoor areas, each with its own seating, the best being the lower garden with its spacious patio. Sit under the pagoda with its beautiful lilac wisteria, or in the cute wooden seats. It is also here that you will find the summer-house, with comfortable seating and views across the countryside. As it is heated and insulated you can enjoy this all year round.

Maple Cottage is situated on the edge of the lovely hamlet of Leasgill, not far from the small town of Milnthorpe. Nearby you will find Levens Hall with a great teashop and some spectacular topiary, the oldest of its kind. Explore both the gardens and the house at your leisure. Kendal is a historic market town to the south of the Lake District with two castles, two museums and an abundance of lovely shops to explore. Here of course you are not far from the Lakes, with Windermere, the largest natural lake in England, being the nearest. Take a steamboat trip on the lake, or maybe this is the ideal time to visit the home of Beatrix Potter.

Circling around Grange-over-Sands you will come to Cartmel with its racecourse, Medieval Priory and gatehouse and some very good food, with a Michelin starred chef owning several establishments in the village, including L'Enclume with three Michelin stars!

If lakes are not your thing then it is only a short journey to the edge of the spectacular Yorkshire Dales National Park. Enjoy a walk through spectacular scenery to Malham Cove with its unique rock formations. Or wander around the village of Settle, maybe stopping off for tea at Ye Olde Naked Man Cafe.

Wherever you choose to explore you will love coming back to Maple Cottage, sitting in the garden and reflecting on your adventures.
