Bridgerton filming locations

A Regency romance with vibrant costumes, characters, and compositions (the soundtrack is hard to beat, we must say), Bridgerton took the world by storm when it graced our screens back in 2020. Set in London during the 19th century, this quick-witted series follows the lives of several well-to-do families of the Ton, all narrated by the dulcet tones of Dame Julie Andrews as Lady Whistledown.

Whether you joined for the Duke in season one, everybody’s favourite lake-dipped moment in season two, or season three’s grand reveals, it’s safe to say that season four is going to be the talk of the Ton. And the best way to celebrate its upcoming release? Well, by visiting some of the Bridgerton’s famous filming locations in real life, of course!

From the iconic wisteria-clad exterior of Bridgerton House to palatial halls and dining rooms that will have you itching for a decor refresh, the UK’s many extravagant stately homes and country houses are the perfect backdrop to your next day out.

Ready for your next promenade? Here are some of our favourite Bridgerton filming locations to inspire your next romantic adventure…

Ranger’s House, London

The iconic red-bricked filming location for Bridgerton house

Perhaps the most well-known of Bridgerton’s filming locations, Ranger’s House is the lavish exterior of everyone’s favourite family home. In the series, Bridgerton House is adorned with hanging wisteria, while the wrought iron gates sport beautiful roses climbing up the balusters. Many visit this iconic home for a photo worthy of a leading lady, but during certain times of the year, you can also explore inside. Although the interiors of Bridgerton House are filmed elsewhere, Ranger’s House is well worth an extended visit, as it is home to one of the greatest private art collections ever recorded.

Blenheim Palace, Cotswolds

The magnificent front of Blenheim Palace, one of the many filming locations for Bridgerton

A popular location that has been used in a variety of films, from family-friendly favourites to historical dramas, it’s easy to see why Blenheim Palace was the perfect choice to portray Buckingham Palace in Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story and various Regency-era backdrops in season three of Bridgerton. In the beloved series’ emotional prequel, you can see Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury breathing life into the incredible rooms throughout the estate, from the breathtaking long library to the great court and its famous honey-dipped exterior. During your visit to Blenheim, you’ll be able to visit many of the historic rooms, including the birthplace of Winston Churchill, not to mention the sprawling grounds and water terraces featured throughout Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte’s incredible spin-off.

Hampton Court Palace, London

A manicured lawn surrounded by historic walls at Hampton Court Palace in London

Another stand-in for Queen Charlotte’s palatial abode, Hampton Court Palace in London packs quite the visual punch. Whether it’s strolling through the Great Fountain Garden (we can’t think of anywhere more deserving of the word ‘great’ in its name) or catching one’s breath in the privy garden, the outdoor spaces at Hampton Court are truly one of a kind. A baroque palace built for William III and Mary II, it’s wonderfully easy to fall into the role of a promenading member of the Ton, with the promise of a maze ensuring your visit is just as enthralling as an episode of the show.

Royal Crescent, Bath

The impressive arc of stately homes at the Royal Crescent in Bath where Bridgerton is filmed

One of Bath’s most instantly recognisable spots, the Royal Crescent was made for Bridgerton’s fashionable Ton. Becoming the home for Penelope Featherington and her colourful family, No. 1 Royal Crescent is one of the most well-known Bridgerton filming locations. In real life, the historic building is actually a museum, showcasing what life was like in the 18th century. An incredible array of furniture and artwork brings the museum to life, while the art gallery displays a mesmerising mix of contemporary and timeless pieces. If you visit at Christmas, you’ll get to experience a very merry, Georgian Christmas in all its pine-scented glory.

Castle Howard, Yorkshire

The stately exterior of Castle Howard in Yorkshire

Yorkshire is no stranger to film-worthy landmarks, whether it’s the magical formations at Malham Cove that appeared in Harry Potter or the period drama Downton Abbey, whose very inspiration was taken from the county’s beautiful scenes. Setting the backdrop for the Duke of Hastings and Daphne Bridgerton’s marriage, Castle Howard became the grand Clyvedon Castle in series one of the show. The house, gardens, and parkland became the perfect setting for the pair’s blossoming relationship, while also lending its walled garden to a particularly prized scene between Daphne and Nigel Berbrooke in the first episode (it was a terrific right hook, after all). The castle and grounds are open during various dates throughout the year, inviting you to don your finest attire for a promenade worthy of Netflix’s hit series.

Wrotham Park, Hertfordshire

One of season two’s primary filming locations, the beguiling 2,500-acre estate of Wrotham Park stepped in to portray the Bridgerton’s family home at Aubrey Hall. The neo-Palladian exterior and exquisite interiors lend a rather grand backdrop to the scenes filmed here, while the sun-kissed grounds are the perfect setting for a round or two of pall-mall. Sadly, this particular Bridgerton filming location is rarely open to the public, but it can be enjoyed in Bridgerton and countless other film and television series, including The Crown and Downton Abbey.

Ashbridge Estate, Hertfordshire

If season two stole your heart, a visit to Ashbridge Estate is a must. The sprawling grounds and countryside surrounding the estate and Ivinghoe Beacon played host to Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma during their famous horse riding scenes, with additional scenes being shot at Windsor Great Park. With acres of rolling hills and tree-lined valleys to choose from, it was the perfect backdrop to the pair’s exploits. Explore Ashbridge Estate yourself with a walk around the National Trust grounds, before stopping by the fabulous on-site café for a bite to eat. The grounds and visitor centre are dog-friendly too, making this the ideal filming location to explore with your four-legged friend by your side.

Osterley Park and House, West London

The eastern edge of Osterley Park and House in London where Bridgerton is filmed

Let’s be honest, we’ve all dreamed of attending an opulent ball, bedecked in finery and sporting jewellery that can be seen from a mile away. Alas, while ball invitations might be far and few between, that doesn’t mean you can’t attend the setting for one of Bridgerton’s biggest and brightest. Setting the scene for a grand gathering in the second episode of season three, Osterley Park and House brought the incredible Full Moon Ball to life. The beautiful interiors provided a lavish backdrop to Penelope’s endeavours, while the courtyard conjured magic at every turn, with columns and guests alike bathed in moonlight.

Wilton House, Wiltshire

When it comes to Bridgerton filming locations, none has played quite as many roles as Wilton House. A stone’s throw from Salisbury, this beautiful estate has offered many of its rooms and landmark features as scene-stealing backdrops. Perhaps most notable are the scenes in which nervous debutantes present themselves to the steely-eyed Queen Charlotte. Other backdrops include the grand Palladian bridge, which shares a scene with Jonathan Bailey (swoon), and some of the smaller rooms, including a stand-in for Queen Charlotte’s bedroom. Wilton House remains, to this day, a family home, although you can still visit the immaculate house and gardens to experience the joy of Regency life yourself.

Holburne Museum of Art, Bath

The columned exterior of Holburne Museum in Bath where Bridgerton was filmed

Another Bath landmark to appear in Bridgerton, Holburne Museum of Art became the home of Lady Danbury in the first and second seasons. The gorgeous Palladian-style house stole the show with its grand columned entrance and picture-lined staircase. In the series, the house sports beautiful pink walls, which were actually crafted by the production team to set the home apart from the show’s other sets. If you visit today, you’ll find an incredible collection of art, ranging from contemporary to period pieces and everything in between. When visiting Bath, we also recommend visiting Abbey Green, where The Abbey Deli will be instantly recognisable as the Modiste - although it is now full of tasty treats, not beautiful gowns.

Kingston Bagpuize House, Oxfordshire

In season three, Kingston Bagpuize House transforms into the newly acquired family home of the Mondritches. Will and Alice move into the grand house after their son Nicky inherits the title of Baron of Kent. The red-bricked stately home lends several of its rooms to the show, from the captivating entrance hall to the enchanting drawing room and pink bedroom. The house is open to the public during the spring, summer, and autumn months, inviting you to explore this extraordinary home for yourself.
