Holidays in the Yorkshire Dales
One of the UK’s most beloved National Parks, a holiday in the Yorkshire Dales promises endless adventures around every heather-topped corner, whether you’re an avid walker or a historian looking to step back in time somewhere special.
Walks in the Yorkshire Dales

The third largest National Park in the UK, the Yorkshire Dales boasts oodles of space to explore during your holiday, with miles of beautiful trails to uncover. One of the most popular walks in the Yorkshire Dales is Malham Cove and its surrounding scenery. Carved from the limestone over a millennium, this fascinating rural cliff has been captivating visitors for years, while the nearby falls at Gordale Scar and Janet’s Foss promise more show-stopping views for your Yorkshire Dales circular. Aysgarth Falls are another popular waterfall walk in the Dales, while the towering peaks of Pen-Y-ghent, Whernside, and Ingleborough invite you to embark on a challenging hike with tremendous views at the top.
Things to do in the Yorkshire Dales

The Yorkshire Dales are jam-packed with fascinating days out, whether you’re a historian looking to explore some romantic ruins or a foodie whose idea of the perfect day includes cheese, cheese, and more cheese. Yorkshire is home to some of the most impressive abbeys in the UK, with the Dales housing four. Fountains Abbey is a jewel in the National Trust’s crown, with the ruins and surrounding woodlands and water gardens drawing visitors in year-round. Bolton Abbey might lie in ruin, but it’s a hub of activity with family-friendly trails and picnic spots peppering the grounds, while Bolton Castle (no relation to the abbey) and Skipton Castle promise a fascinating step back in time. Whether you’re a fan of cheese or the lovable duo Wallace and Gromit, the Wensleydale Creamery near Hawes is a must-visit, especially if you join the cheese experience followed by the ultimate cheesy afternoon tea!
Places to eat in the Yorkshire Dales

When it comes to dining out in the Dales, you simply can’t beat a cosy pub lunch. From flickering fires that fill the bar with welcoming warmth to menus that shine a light on local farms, Yorkshire’s pubs really come into their own in the Dales. Feast yourself on hearty Sunday roasts laden with Yorkshire puddings and lashings of gravy, or opt for a plate of fish and chips for a taste of the coast. The Yorkshire Dales is also home to one of the county’s top Michelin restaurants, Shaun Rankin at Grantley Hall, inviting you to taste the very best Yorkshire has to offer.
