Designated as a Site of Specific Scientific Interest, Barricane Bay is a pretty little sandy bay surrounded by stunning rocky outcrops. Tucked away about half a mile away from Woolacombe beach, Barricane is popular with surfers and perfect for rock pooling. The beach disappears at high tide, forming a large natural pool.

Sri Lankan curry!
This little treat of a cove is fantastic. Spend the full day there in this beautiful haven of a beach and finish it off with a Sri Lankan curry. The ringing of the bell at 5pm and the stampede to get into the queue (no need really as they serve 5-7) tells you how good it is.

Climb Potter's Hill and enjoy fabulous views across North Devon from the summit. This lovely walk will take about 30 minutes, is dog friendly and definitely worth the effort. Take a look at the link to our friends at the National Trust for full details of the walk.

Beaches don’t come any bigger than this – Woolacombe’s sands stretch beyond the horizon in a perfect yellow arc. Surfing is the main activity here and this bay is a great place to learn, with consistent swell and a gently shelving beach. The town has a classic seaside feel, with ice cream parlours, surf shops and cafes serving fresh local seafood. There’s an unhurried pace of life here that just begs you to unwind.

Lovely pub and restaurant, very family friendly. Great to sit out on a sunny afternoon and have a drink. The restaurant is in a conservatory to the rear of the building. Lovely food and very helpful friendly staff .

Set deep in the north Devon countryside, The Rosemoor estate was once the home of Lady Anne Palmer. Lady Anne developed a passion for plants when she met noted plantsman Colllingwood Ingram while recuperating from measles in Spain. Over the next 30 years, she travelled the world to collect specimens for her garden, which she gave to the Royal Horticultural Society in 1988. The estate now comprises 65 acres of land, which includes rose gardens, a winter garden, a fruit and vegetable garden, a formal garden, woodlands, and many stream and lakeside plantings, making Rosemoor an enchanting place to visit whatever the season.

An exceptional day out if you love nature and gardens. We were lucky our visit coincided with the Festival of Apples in October. Beautiful place and everything offered is of the highest standard.

Fanstastic
Spent the best part of the day exploring the walks around the estate and through the fabulous formal and informal gardens, plenty of seating in the grounds to appreciate the flowers, plants and trees, choice of refreshment options from snacks to restaurant, a very good shop and parking very easy, worth the effort to visit.

Gorgeous day out
As an RHS member and regular visit to Hyde Hall I’ve been keen to visit the other gardens so when on holiday nearby, a visit to Rosemoor was a must. It is truly fabulous, we visited on a beautiful, sunny, summer day so we saw it at it’s best but I can see how there is interest whatever time of year you visit.
The staff are friendly and we received a great welcome and explanation of the layout when we arrived, such a lovely touch.
The garden is split into two parts, Lady Anne’s garden which has beautiful trees and planting best seen at a gentle stroll and the more formal gardens laid our directly near the entrance which are also stunning. The cool garden was gorgeous especially on a hot day.

Roses Galore!
The rose collection - one of the largest in the West Country - is very impressive. In full bloom in the summer, the scent of over 2,000 flowers is quite sensational. The Rose Weekend, held in June, was very informative, with advice on growing your own, as well as walks and activities for children.
The beating heart of Georgeham, this pub offers both locals and visitors alike fresh quality food, a specials board and large selection of drinks. There's seating both inside and out so you can choose where you dine depending on the weather.

Accessed via a series of four man-made tunnels carved through the cliffs, Tunnels Beaches near Ilfracombe are truly unique. Created in the 1820s, the tunnels lead visitors out onto sand and shingle beaches, complete with a Victorian sea pool. Sheltered by the cliffs, the beaches afford beautiful views and special atmosphere. A landscaped garden lends itself perfectly to picnics in the sun and there is even sun bed and wetsuit hire available. A cafe serves refreshments and lifeguards are on duty in the summer. A fee applies.

Best Food of Our Whole Holiday
We happened on the Williams Arms while searching for a bite to eat one evening and although they were booked out, the very helpful and friendly staff juggled things around and made room for us (my Wife, Son and I).
The location itself is fantastic with the inn being thatched and heralding from the 16th century and although I wasn't expecting the moon on a stick, I came very close to getting it!
The food was superb from the gorgeous soups and starters, to the mains menu and my personal favourite, the carvery. Even the deserts were great and the bannofee pie is to die for.
Can't speak highly enough about this place and the staff but needless to say we made a few more visits after our first and never looked back.
