Perfectly situated on the banks of the river, the Jolly Sailor is a great place to visit for drinks and good food with a view. Sit by the water and watch the tide edd and flow, or take a seat in the delightful restaurant, the choice is yours. Dogs are welcome both inside and out.

With views over the Solent towards the Isle of Wight, Hill Head beach is made up of shingle divided up with wooden groynes. Watersports enthusiasts head here for windsurfing, kitesurfing and sailing. Although not the place for making sandcastles, this beach is great for gazing over the water watching the ships sail by on the Solent.

Open daily, River Hamble Country Park is a delightful place to spend time. Call in at the Barn on arrival and collect all the information you'll need to discover things to see and do. With miles of scenic walks, wildlife spotting and historical landmarks, there's something for everyone here.

Found in the borough of Eastleigh, Bursledon is a riverside village, perfectly located to explore the best of Hampshire. Within easy reach of Southampton, the village has strong marine connections as well as a railway station, windmill and brickworks museum. There are several country parks within easy reach, ideal for walkers.

Ancient Abbey ruins were the centre of the village settlement and imparted its name. Now, Palace House is home to the Montagu family and there are exhibitions of monastic life with grounds and gardens to get lost in. Oh, and the famous motor museum of course.

Everything motoring is covered but even if you're not an enthusiast, there are some lovely specimens on display, set in stunning grounds.
