KingSitting in the Gloucestershire countryside, this lakeside retreat for two offers a peaceful and romantic getaway. This gorgeous cabin has been lovingly handcrafted with luxury in mind. From the alfresco bathtub to the warming wood burner, Ruska is truly a place where you can relax and unwind together in nature.
Settled in a meadow with sweeping vistas of flowing countryside, Ruska has been crafted to create the cosiest environment. Step inside and you will find earthy interiors, which set the scene for a dreamy retreat. The sumptuous king-sized bed promises the most restful night's sleep, and the warming wood burner with a generous supply of logs allows for plenty of serene moments beside the warm glow of flickering flames. The sleek kitchenette has been perfectly designed, complete with a dishwasher, electric hob and oven, fridge/ freezer and sink.
The ensuite shower-room hosts a walk-in rainfall shower and soft, fluffy robes to add a touch of luxury to your stay. Once the sun sets, embrace time together curled up under a blanket while playing board games or snuggling down to watch your favourite film on the smart TV.
Outdoors is where Ruska really comes to life. The stunning stone bathtub is large enough for both of you to sink into the bubbles, with a glass of wine in hand. There’s a rustic fire pit and charcoal barbecue to embrace alfresco cooking, or why not toast marshmallows under the moonlight as the stars light up the sky. What a perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring.
For an unforgettable memory, take a blanket and wander up the hill behind your hideaway. Once you reach the top, you’ll need a moment to take in the far-reaching views across the beautiful Severn Valley. The River Severn stretches to your left with the Forest of Dean to your right. This is the idyllic spot to sit down and watch the world go by for a little while, no distractions, just time together in the most magical setting.
Why not make your stay extra special and treat yourself or your loved one to a spa treatment from Pure Bliss Spa by Amy. Amy is happy to come out to Ruska for private spa treatments to take place in the cabin itself. If you fancy a speciality massage or facial by Amy, please speak with the owner to organise before your stay.
There is so much to see and do nearby. For nature lovers, be sure to visit the nearby Forest of Dean and River Severn. With an abundance of walks to discover, you are in the perfect location to immerse yourself in nature for a little while. The Puzzel Wood is a truly spectacular spot within the Forest of Dean, and is famously known as one of J.R.R. Tolkien's biggest inspirations when writing The Lord of the Rings. For an afternoon out, National Trusts Westbury Court Gardens are less than 10-minutes away and well worth a visit.
For foodies, take a look at The Yew Tree in Longhope, serving breakfast through to dinner; expect hearty home-cooked meals and a welcoming ambience. Close by is Newnham, where an abundance of eateries, coffee shops and cosy pubs await. Black Pig Pizza is an excellent spot for handcrafted artisan pizzas and great wine! However you choose to spend your days, you will love nothing more than returning to your private sanctuary and unwinding in nature's paradise.
Open plan living-room with kitchen, dining and bedroom areas. with an induction hob, oven, fridge with freezer compartment, dishwasher, kettle and toaster. Smart TV, wood-burner, books and games. King size bed.
Shower-room with walk-in shower, WC and basin.
The hideaway has automatic blinds which rise at dawn (never before 7 am) and close at dusk. This feature has been implemented to protect foraging bats and other nocturnal wildlife. Please note that the windows and doors also have thermal blackout curtains, which you can open and close as you wish. If you would like the blinds to open later in the morning, this can be arranged directly with the owner.
There is a second cabin on-site, but this is currently unoccupied. This is a future project of the owners. Please be assured that your peace and privacy will not be affected.
