Situated on the border between Gloucestershire and Herefordshire, The Kilcot Inn is a charming traditional inn serving real ales and cider alongside freshly prepared food. There's a fabulous rose garden and African pods, ideal for alfresco dining. Dogs are welcome in the bar area.

Whilst not a family day out beach (there is no sand to be found) Severn Beach does have a wide pathway for walks along the front and good views of the Severn Bridges. This is a good place for fishing and dogs are allowed year round.

Leave behind the hustle and bustle of the town centre and head for the arboretum where you will find 9 acres of tranquil parkland with mature trees and lots of places to sit. Dogs are welcome and can spend time off lead here.

Newent is a charming town with a collection of grand achitectural buildings and over 100 listed buildings. The Market Square has a good selection of independent shops, cafes and pubs and you will find a delightful lake and park close to the town centre.

Lovely meal and wine
We walked to the Three Choirs Vineyards through the orchard at Botloes Farm Barn. One minute and you are in the vineyard! Walking through the vineyards on a well defined track to the restaurant. We had pre-booked our table (advised) and were seated immediately. We asked for wine recommendations describing our usual preferences. The wine offered was exactly to our individual tastes. The food was exquisite, so tasty, not too much, not too little. Well worth the extra price tag! The waiting staff were very accommodating to each and every customer there. The chef should win an award for the superbly cooked food and its presentation.
The Kings Arms is a traditional pub situated on the outskirts of Newent. Food is freshly prepared and there's a large sunny beer garden for alfresco dining in summer.

Didn't have a booking but able to have dinner. Very good food. Large portions but they will give you a "doggy" bag on request. Hot plates and hot food which is a good sign. Good choice of menu. Staff friendly and attentive, especially with a slight intolerance issue. Very good value for money.

The Green Dragon Inn is a traditional village pub with cosy interiors and fabulous outside space, perfect for al fresco dining. Centrally located in the village, this is the perfect place for lunch, dinner or just drinks.

Very good Sunday lunch for a party of 12 people, with excellent friendly service and a good atmosphere.

we had lunch there it was very friendly and the food was excellent and the small shop had the most delicious, would highly recommend a visit to both scotch eggs.
Newent Lake Park is an oasis of peace and a haven for wildlife in the town. Mature oak, beech and sycamore trees are abundant around the lake whilst the local ducks, coots and moorhens enjoy the water and island. Take a wander along the re-landscaped footpaths throughout the seasons.
Visit the world-famous gardens at Stourhead and sit amongst tranquil scenes. Described as ‘a living work of art’, the gardens lead visitors on a breath-taking journey. Spend a while in the 18th Century Palladian villa and Hoare family home, before wending your way around the grounds, falling in love with the beautifully thought out landscapes and classical architecture.

Lovely place to visit
House was great. Decorated for Christmas when we went. The gardens are beutiful and plenty of nice walks. Will return to try the pub on the estate!

Beautiful landscapes to explore
A short drive away and you're in the impressive landscape of Stourhead, with its magnificent trees, lake and iconic garden structures. We visited early November when the autumn colours were blazing. A perfect morning out, whether for a lazy amble round the lake or exploring the footpaths to viewpoints and monuments. Good National Trust cafe and shop too.

A highlight of our 5 night stay
We stayed in nearby Nunney for 5 nights. Stourhead was definitely our top pick. On a sunny day it was absolutely beautiful. The scenery is stunning and it was nice to have a well-earned ice-cream in the pretty courtyard of the pub after a good walk. There are plenty of spots for taking beautiful pictures. We'd be interested to return one Autumn or see it covered in snow too.

Magical!
This is the most beautiful place you can imagine - the walk around the lake, dropping into the various buildings and grottoes, is breathtaking. All I can say is you really must visit.
