DoubleAll aboard this little beauty, a stunning converted train carriage complete with wood-fired hot tub. It's the perfect romantic, dog friendly getaway for two with gorgeous countryside views in the heart of Yorkshire.
Albie's Freight Train is a lovingly-transformed former railway carriage set within a quiet corner of a working farm. Retired from travelling the railway lines across the country, this little darling is now dedicated to creating the perfect escape for two, with bijou yet luxurious living that includes a wood-fired hot tub, uninterrupted views over rolling fields and stylish interiors of reclaimed wood and natural furnishings. Whether you're seeking a complete break from the everyday with long sunny days relaxing, or looking for a comfy base from which to explore the Yorkshire Dales, look no further than this blissful escape for two. And if your party includes a four-legged friend, no worries - one medium-sized or two small dogs are welcome too.
As you make your way to Albie's Freight Train through the bucolic landscape of the owners' farm, your everyday worries will slip from your shoulders as you approach your idyllic hideaway. Oh-so-romantic and completely charming, this bijou escape is tucked in a peaceful corner shared with one other carriage, Sammi's Freight Train (5287) each in its own private space.
Step through the gate and Albie awaits, beautifully positioned overlooking patchwork-quilt fields and the hills beyond. Open the glass doors and step inside and you'll discover a stunningly stylish space, with handcrafted wooden panelling, richly patinated wooden floors and thoughtfully designed furnishings. On your left lies the kitchen, small but perfectly formed with everything you'll need to rustle up romantic meals a deux, including a single hob, fridge with wine cooler, kettle, toaster and air fryer. Foodies will love that there are not one but three farm shops nearby, meaning you can enjoy the very best local produce grown just minutes' from your stay. Dining, meanwhile, can be enjoyed on the sweet table which can be neatly folded away after use, or you can, of course, head outside for meals al fresco. At the end of the day, whether that's been spent lazing outside or exploring the epic surroundings, the sumptuous double bed awaits, swathed in blissful bedding and country-style linens, all of which help you drift off into the sweetest of sleeps and enjoy the longest of lie-ins, with just the sound of birdsong to accompany you. For bathing, there's an en suite shower-room next to the kitchen, perfect for wake-me-up ablutions to start your day.
Step outside and explore your garden that includes a wood-fired hot tub, where you can relax and make the most of the outdoor seating, gazing over the countryside. Slip into the steaming waters with a glass of something special in hand as the sun sets and the stars appear overhead - bliss! Of course, there's also a barbecue, table and chairs for mealtimes, whether that's enjoying a relaxed breakfast as you pour over a map and plan your days' adventures, or taking your time over a simple supper of local goodies as twilight descends. The garden is fully enclosed too, meaning dogs can enjoy the space in perfect safety.
Albie's Freight Train is just five miles from the Georgian market town of Richmond, where you can walk its cobbled streets and explore its shops, cafes and bakeries, while the renowned farm shop at Thorpe Farm, just a mile away, is a must for picking up local foodstuff for your stay. For countryside-lovers, look no further than the Yorkshire Dales, from the wild beauty of its craggy outcrops and moors to its pretty stone villages, and its spectacular waterfalls to its peaceful woodland, there's so much to explore on foot or by bike, and perfect for dogs too. History buffs will love nearby Barnard Castle, Raby Castle and the French-inspired Bowes Museum, while for a taste of town life head to pretty Harrogate (home to the famous Betty's Tea Room and excellent spa), Ripon with its racecourse and Fountains Abbey, the medieval city of York and Thirsk, home of James Herriot. The choice is endless!
