Immerse yourself in a restful rural getaway and escape the rush of everyday life. Disappear into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales and return for evening starlit soaks in the wood-fired hot tub and cosy down in your own 100 year old freight train carriage. You will be enchanted by its unique charm and delightfully rustic interiors. The views over the fields and far into the distance are idyllic.

As you step into this quaint cabin on the edge of a working farm, you can leave the world behind. Little touches of its railway history are dotted around with vintage signage and will transport you back to the days when Sammi was a working freight train.

Inside, the warm wooden clad walls are illuminated by soft lighting and cast a gentle light over the interiors. Super cosy and inviting there is a double bed with country style linen, a shower-room and a kitchen to prepare a tasty picnic or rustle up dinner with local produce from the three, no less, farm shops in the area.

It's likely you will want to spend time outdoors cooking over the barbecue, sitting at the vintage table made from railway tracks. Of course, you might just want to sit outside, stick a pot on the fire and settle into the slow lane, whiling away an hour or two listening to the birdsong. After all, that's what this place is all about.

Situated adjacent to the owner's property on a working farm, within a 15 minute drive to Richmond and a 10 minute drive to Barnard Castle, Sammi's Freight Train is in the ideal location for exploring this beautiful part of the country. In a perfect spot close to the Yorkshire Dales, the Georgian market town of Richmond is just five miles away with its grand castle cobbled streets and theatre, take advantage of the quaint bakeries and cafes serving Yorkshire fare. Barnard Castle can be easily reached within a seven mile drive, history lovers can explore the popular Bowes Museum, Barnard Castle and Raby Castle then pick up supplies at the weekly farmer's market and quaint high street. The World Heritage and Cathedral City of Durham is worth a visit. A little further afield but still within an hour's drive are Catterick Races where you can have a flutter, Masham with its quintessential market square and no less than two breweries to visit, The Black Sheep and Theakston's. A little further afield is Harrogate where you can visit the famous Bettys tea rooms, spa and theatre, Ripon with its racecourse and magnificent fountains Abbey, Thirsk of James Herriot fame and the ancient walled city of York.

There is a local pub just a couple of miles away which serves excellent food and drink as well as a locally respected farm shop, Thorpe Farm, one mile away, which offers produce from the local area. Walkers and cyclists will find routes right from the front door and countryside which provides activities for those who want a gentle stroll or those who prefer more of a challenge.
