Come and enjoy a break in the Yorkshire Dales and relax with the rustic charm of an original Yorkshire stone cottage. Semi-detached Low Rigg is huddled at the edge the charming village of Muker, with amazing views over the hills from both the front and the rear. Straight from the doorstep saunter through the famous seven fields, and their sheep, to the Swale.

Go through the front door and into the dining-room with its original stone floor and the piano left for you to use along with a selection of music. The large dining-table is a great place to gather after a day out exploring and share a meal of wonderful Yorkshire fayre. Relax in the sitting-room and either watch TV, curl up with a good book, or you could just watch the time go by on the large grandfather clock while warming yourself in front of the open fire. The kitchen to the rear has all the equipment you could need to cook up some wonderful meals.

When evening comes around climb the staircase to your choice of bedrooms, two large doubles and a cute twin, ideal for younger children. Each one has fantastic views over Swaledale. The accommodation is completed by two spacious shower-rooms.

It is outside where Low Rigg comes into its own, with walks and the village to the front and a glorious and unusually large garden to the rear, with a well-built dry-stone wall holding it back from joining the hills. The well-kept lawns and the colourful borders are a delight, and the summer-house is perfect for those who prefer the shade. In the evening you can enjoy an al fresco drink while marvelling at the dark skies, dotted with a bounty of stars.

For such a small village Muker boasts a community pub, a shop and of course its own tea-room. Muker Beck runs through the village joining the Swale further down the dale. The nearby villages of Gunnerside, Low Row and Reeth are all worth a visit.

Swaledale is a fantastic area for those who love the outdoors. If you fancy a ride you can bring your own bike or hire one from the Dales Bike Centre, and maybe enjoy tea and a home-made cake afterwards. For the hikers amongst you Muker is on the Pennine Way which crosses the coast to coast just up the road at Keld.

A short drive from Low Rigg, over the hills is the village of Askrigg, famed for its role as Darroby in the original 'All Creatures Great and Small' television series, and then on to Aysgarth where you can take a walk along the falls, where sometimes salmon can be seen leaping in autumn.

Further along is the town of Hawes and the famous Wensleydale Creamery, a great place to stop over for a cheese-based lunch. Nearby you can see Hardraw Force, England's highest unbroken waterfall at 100 feet. Take the road back over Buttertubs Pass which heads back to Muker and don't forget to pay a visit to the 17th Century Tan Hill Inn, the highest pub in England.

If history is your thing explore Middleham Castle, once the home of Richard III, or Castle Bolton where Mary, Queen of Scots was held prisoner before escaping and making her way towards Leyburn losing her shawl along the way, hence the walk along the cliff edge west of Leyburn is called The Shawl.

There are so many amazing places to see and things to do a return visit to Low Rigg may well be needed.
