KingIf you go down to the woods today, you'll discover this Devonshire beauty - a stunning, romantic hideaway for those seeking the wilder things in life…
Welcome to Alma, our bijou beauty tucked away in 50 acres of private land in north Devon, surrounded by woodland. A stunning pet-free shepherds hut for those who're looking for the perfect rural romantic escape, it boasts beautiful views over a valley and a canopy of trees, and set on a blissful sun-trap slope . This is the hideaway to escape to if you're seeking a break from the world, with no television or WiFi to distract you, offering a digital detox, where instead of connecting to your phone you can connect to nature and each other.
On arrival, pull up in your own parking space and take yourself up your very own pathway through the trees to the hillside setting of Alma. An idyllic shepherd's hut, on your approach you'll first encounter a covered porch area complete with wooden bench - the ideal spot to while away the hours listening to the birds and watching the natural world unfold before you amongst the canopy. Step up into Alma and you'll find a space bedecked in gorgeous wooden features and natural earthy tones to complement its lush surroundings.
A beautiful bespoke king-sized bed nestles on your left, ready and waiting for long languorous lie-ins, and with a pretty window at the end of the bed, on slow mornings you can gaze through it as you enjoy breakfast in bed. Next to the bedroom area lies the kitchen, amply equipped for simple cooking needs with a two ring hob, fridge with ice box, mini cooker and cooking utensils - just what you need for rustling up meals for your favourite person. Alternatively, it's just a gentle amble to the charming local pub that dishes up tasty hot meals and excellent ales if you'd rather not cook! Opposite the kitchen area lies a wooden fold out table and two plush velvet chairs for relaxing and late-night romantic meals, while at the end of the cabin you'll find the shower room, complete with walk-in shower, freestanding sink and WC.
Step back outside to find a tucked-away outdoor space to call your very own, complete with a gorgeous hot tub. With a retractable awning so you can indulge whatever the weather, sink in to its steaming, bubbling waters with a glass of something special in hand and take time to soak up the surrounding countryside and fully relax. In addition, Alma has a tranquil picnic area, BBQ for alfresco cooking and a swinging hammock for lazy summer afternoons, when a cat nap calls or you want to catch up with a good book.
Alma lies in a private 50-acre estate of countryside and woodland, all for you to explore just by stepping out of the front door, and is shared with just two other cabins so you're guaranteed privacy and seclusion. If you can bear to tear yourself away, Alma is positioned just a few miles from South Molton on the borders of Exmoor, with the coast just a 30 minute drive away, so there's plenty to see and do every day of your stay, should you wish. South Molton itself is a pretty market town and perfect for your grocery needs, with a historic pannier market twice a week where you can find tasty local produce as well as crafts, antiques and gifts to take home with you. It also has an excellent museum where you can discover the history of the area, and a lovely selection of cafes, eateries and independent shops to explore. A little further afield lies Exmoor National Park, perfect for walks, bike trails and horse riding, or simply exploring from the comfort of your car. Highlights include Dunkery Woods and beacon (the highest point on Exmoor), the pretty town of Dulverton, Dunster Castle and the picture-perfect thatched cottages of Selworthy. Alternatively, the gorgeous sands of Woolacombe, Ilfracombe, Saunton and Appledore await for sunny beachy days, or head south to explore the wilds of Dartmoor and its craggy, oh-so-stunning terrain. The coastal villages of Lynton and Lynmouth, with their quaint Victorian feel, are well worth a visit as well as the National Trust's Watersmeet, a beautiful riverside walk. If you want a taste of city life, you're also not far from Exeter, Devon's ancient capital, with a host of restaurants, shops and events to keep you entertained.
