Steps then lead to the dining-room, where the original granite salt troughs from bygone days make a striking feature beneath the bench seating. The contemporary kitchen is a dream, fitted with old pine and cream units, polished granite worktops and a warming electric AGA (the main cooking appliance, although a combination microwave is also provided). A central island provides the perfect spot for guests to sit and chat with the chef.
