Everything about Pengelly Manor was excellent. Its central location is ideal for both Cornwall and Devon and is equidistant from both coasts. The ‘cherry on the cake’ for us was meeting Reg, gardener and maintenance man, with his trusty understudy, Kev. These two are ambassadors for Pengelly and for the West Country as a whole, providing a warm welcome and some good suggestions on the locality. This was a three generation family holiday, making fabulous and lasting memories. We would have absolutely no hesitation in re-booking. Murray & Sue Gibson. August 2025...

Pengelly Manor is probably the best cottage we have stayed in. The location is great, just off the B3257, but with the fantastic gardens it felt remote and peaceful. Garden is great especially if you have children and/or dogs, but still lots of space to find a quiet relaxing area. The house was amazing, excellent sized kitchen and with the separate dinning room, snooker room and two lounges, and all the large bedrooms, I'm sure even large groups won't feel cramped. Everywhere was clean, plenty of crockery and cutlery. Car parking space for many cars, which can be an issue with some cottages. One other final piece on location, we found it ideal for going into North or South Cornwall, we estimated it's approx in the middle of Cornwall. That can be advantageous as it's not uncommon to have bad weather on one coast but lovely sunny weather on the other Highly recommend Pengelly Manor to anyone looking for a cottage in Cornwall with space, large garden, and great location. This was our first but certainly won't be our last visit to Pengelly Manor ...

Mrs Teague August 2025
Pengelly Manor is a charming old house, which is spacious and interesting in its layout. Having two sitting rooms is practical for a large party — we used one as a quieter space for reading and using laptops, and the other for chatting, playing games or watching TV. The snooker table is a big bonus — we spent many happy hours playing snooker, especially as we had a rather wet week. The kitchen is large and well-equipped; the Aga keeps it very warm, so it is sure to be cosy in colder months. The garden is delightful, and we especially enjoyed having a barbecue and eating outside in very pleasant surroundings. Dogs being allowed at the property was particularly helpful and made our holiday all the more enjoyable. The area is well worth exploring — there is interest for walkers, cyclists, artists/photographers and history lovers. The house is well-situated for small towns and shopping as well as open countryside. Our only concern was the pond — lovely to look at but a potential risk for children and dogs. Overall, we would recommend the property very highly, but suggest being very careful around the pond....
