KingImmerse yourself in rural life and revitalise the senses at the wonderful Dannett House. Nestled in the heart of the countryside, amidst rolling pastures, wide open skies and wonderfully fresh air, yet within easy reach of the delights of the coast, this is the ultimate countryside retreat for large family gatherings, special celebrations, friends' reunions and simply any excuse to get together.
Unpack, unwind and meet the neighbours: some free-range chickens, comical guinea fowl, sheep grazing in the meadow, the farm cat, Dusty the donkey and Silver the Shetland pony, they are such a wonderful couple, you'll be smitten.
This blissful retreat packs quite a punch and will delight young and old alike as there's so much to do. So let's start outside. You can discover nature's delights along the woodland walks or cast your line in the fishing lake. The hot tub beckons you to just relax and chill or you can challenge yourselves to a frame or two of snooker, a game of darts or even table-tennis in the games-room, to see who gets the bragging rights at the dinner-table. And what a dinner it will be, whether served up in the farmhouse kitchen, relaxed in the garden under the open skies or turned into a real celebration, dining semi al fresco style on the huge table in the party barn - it's a real treat.
Step inside and homely warmth abounds with comfortable and cosy interiors waiting to welcome you. There's room for 18 with a choice of two lounges to spread out watching flicks on the TV, relaxing with a good book whilst someone feeds logs onto the wood-burner or playing games into the wee small hours.
The kitchens, yes there are two of those as well, are the epitome of country living with oodles of space for all to help out and everything you need for large scale catering .
After all the fresh air, you'll sleep like a log in the blissful silence that abounds. With a choice of nine gorgeous bedrooms to cosy you up for the night, two being on the ground floor, ideal for those less mobile or who maybe want to sneak out to the kitchen for a midnight feast! The remaining bedrooms are on the first floor, four being on one side of the house and three on the other. Bedroom six can be set up as an inter-connecting room with bedroom three or have a separate access from the second set of stairs (the door between the two rooms can be locked). Please let us know when booking whether you would like the rooms interconnecting or separate access during your stay.
Sharing the delight of this wonderful setting is the owner's son and family, who farm the land. They are close by but leave you in peace to enjoy your time together.
With so much to do you could ditch the car for the week and spend your whole holiday at Dannett Stable and who can blame you, but if you are up for a day out this is also a great base for exploring.
Spend time wandering around the traditional harbourside town of Looe where you can browse around the shops and galleries, join a fishing trip, indulge in some good old fish and chips or hop over to Looe Island to discover rare plant and wildlife. The pretty fishing village of Polperro, a favourite with artists, offers a more olde worlde charm, and a little further down the coast is the exclusive waterfront town of Fowey.
A day at Mount Edgcumbe Park with its Tudor house, beautiful gardens, miles of walks and artisan workshops will be a delight and the National Trust houses and gardens at Cotehele and Lanhydrock are equally charming. If you want to spend a day on the beach head to nearby Seaton and Downderry and for some city culture take a trip over the river Tamar to the historic maritime city of Plymouth to see where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America and Sir Francis Drake played that infamous game of bowls.
