This super-size coastal retreat is a feast of family fun located on the stunning Rame peninsula, only moments from the beach and with breathtaking views out across the shimmering waters of Whitsand Bay. It is the ultimate place for family and friends to gather in a relaxing environment with amazing facilities for everyone to enjoy.
The private heated indoor pool is sure to be a big hit all year round, as is the hot tub which beckons you to relax for a leisurely soak with those views providing the most stunning back drop. If you're a little more musically minded, enjoy a good old sing-song around the baby grand piano or magic up a classic musical or an action-packed movie in the cinema room…popcorn optional of course. A game of bar billiards or table-tennis is waiting for you in the games-room and as day turns to dusk the terrace is the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks or firing up the barbecue, admiring the spectacular sunsets.
And if that's not enough, a private walkway leads to a small spa area with sauna and steam-room, this luxurious facility is shared with other properties nearby but can be booked for private use at no extra charge.
Sleeping up to 12 lucky guests, Thanckes House combines modern and traditional styling with interiors that are full of comfort, character and charm. The large open plan sitting/dining-room has floor to ceiling windows taking full advantage of the sea views and the kitchen/breakfast-room provides an alternative option for more informal meals with more of those wonderful views. Guests have the choice of six comfortable bedrooms, four with en suite facilities and some with balconies looking out to sea. It really is a special place to stay, so come and make the most of time together at Thanckes House and create some cherished memories.
From this wonderful location on the Rame peninsula you can enjoy the magic of beautiful seascapes, bays, beaches and coves and endless miles of stunning coastal footpaths. Found in the pretty hamlet of Portwrinkle, the beach and coastal walks are a mere stone's throw away, as is the links golf course for those who want to put their handicap to the test, and to indulge in some good old Cornish hospitality the village pub is a 10 minute stroll up the hill along with a little community shop.
The historic houses and gardens of Mount Edgcumbe and Antony (National Trust) are close by as is the renowned Port Eliot, home of the annual festival and a whole host of events held throughout the year. The charming twinned coastal villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, with their winding streets, pastel-coloured cottages and a great choice of places to eat and drink are well worth a visit and for a complete contrast, head to the maritime city of Plymouth to visit the historic Barbican, famous Plymouth Hoe and the city's latest hotspot, The Royal William Yard.
