The village is a hidden gem, unspoilt and steeped in history. Local shops include an eclectic assortment of galleries and potteries, inspired by the gorgeous surrounding countryside and coastline and you'll find a good selection of cafes, restaurants and inns here, ideal if the chef wants a night off cooking. The local bakery will keep you supplied with fresh bread and if you are lucky enough to be visiting on the first Sunday each month, the Hartland Farmers Market is a great place to stock up on all things local. Two miles away, the north Devon coast is waiting to be discovered. Hartland Quay is a pretty cove where swimmers can take advantage of the sheltered waters.
