KingNestled in the pretty rural coastal village of Crantock, just a five minute walk from the beach, with its traditional village pub and ancient church, this absolutely divine house is a fabulous retreat for family and friends deserving of an extra special holiday. The Newstead has been lovingly converted into a gorgeous detached holiday homestay – where luscious interiors and a warm welcome await you and the most amazing sea views from the top floor.
Step through the front door into a light and airy hallway. Downstairs you are treated to an open plan living area which is most definitely the heart of the home. With a large sumptuous sofa and a wood-burning stove to keep you toasty on cooler evenings, it is the perfect spot for evenings in with a book, or cuddled up watching a film on the Smart HD television. On sunny days, the living-room creates a great shady escape with sliding doors opening onto the sunny decked terrace. The kitchen/dining area is fully equipped with all mod-cons and is the perfect place to relax and cook up that feast there isn't time for at home. For more formal dining you have a separate dining-room which has doors leading out onto a separate terrace. Comfortably seating eight, the table has been thoughtfully situated to take in the garden view. A utility-room off the kitchen has everything needed to make this feel like a true home-from-home. There's superfast fibre broadband and there are Sonos music speakers in the sitting, kitchen and dining areas.
At the rear of the property you are treated to a relaxing sauna and top of the range cinema room if you fancy a change of scene. The cinema room has a 65'' UHD television and a games console/DVD player and is the ideal retreat both for children and adults to escape to. A Netflix subscription is included on both TVs.
The four boutique-style bedrooms are set over the two top floors and have each been individually styled and furnished to the highest of standards. The main bedroom on the first floor has a gorgeous super-king bed complete with super-stylish en suite shower-room. The second and third bedrooms (also on the first floor) are both 'zip and link' beds which can be made up as plush super-king size beds or roomy twins. You decide. Take the stairs up to the third floor and be prepared to be bowled over! This room oozes style and glamour with exotic plants, luxurious velvet seating and, at the far end of the room, a king-size bed. On a clear day you can see the sea, so sink back into the sofa and dream away!
The contemporary, bath and shower rooms are both located on the first floor and are the perfect places to unwind after a day at the beach or walking the coast.
Outside, the decked patio-area provides the ideal spot for you to enjoy an al fresco meal, barbecue or perhaps just rest and enjoy some quality family time. Just off the road and very centrally located, The Newstead is in a perfect position for you to soak up the hustle and bustle of the summer months or wallow in the laid-back atmosphere of the quieter winter ones.
The beauty of Crantock lies in its idyllic location, it really is the perfect base from which to explore Cornwall whichever direction you may wish to take. If you're looking to escape the hurly burly of the rat race, leap off the treadmill, abandon the stresses of modern living and then take just one small step back in time to this gorgeous village where the clock seems to have stopped. Drop those shoulders, relax and get ready to re-charge the batteries. You really do have the best of both worlds as, unbelievably, amidst this restful sanctuary, buzzing St Agnes is just a few miles away, hardly a metropolis but rather a small, vibrant town crammed with enough boutique-style shops, laid-back cafes, bistros and restaurants as well as a traditional butchers and deli, to satisfy all those holiday cravings. Your four-legged friends are also most welcome here and will be in doggie heaven bounding along the beach and jumping in the sea!
Sun-worshippers, water babies and rockpool revellers could easily choose a different seaside location every day – from fabulous, family-friendly (including the four-legged members of the family) Crantock beach (previous winner of BBC Coast UK beach of the year) to the stunning sandy beaches at Holywell Bay (where Poldark was filmed), Perranporth, Fistral (famous surfing beach), Watergate Bay and Tolcarne to name just a few. Budding bodyboarders and surfers (both the standing up and lying down ones) may feel the need for an invigorating shake up, so throw caution to the wind and sign up with one of the many surf schools with fully qualified instructors providing safe and exhilarating lessons for all abilities. With the South West Coast Path a five minute walk from the house, it really is too good not to explore the stunning coast, whatever the weather!
With all this activity, taste buds will need to be tickled and thirst quenched – fortunately, there are many watering holes in the area that serve up the most delicious fresh fare from 'just off the boat' fish to cleverly crimped pasties, craft ales, local wines and spirits all guaranteed to replenish the most depleted of energy levels.
There are two pubs in the village (the Old Albion Inn and the Cornishman) and a third, the Bowgie Inn with an amazing beer garden and coastal views, just a ten minute walk along West Pentire. If you feel like indulgence, why not visit Crantock Bay Spa, which has luxury treatments, a swimming pool, tennis courts and a lovely bistro cafe. An afternoon wouldn't be complete without a Cornish cream tea indulgence, or even two, and remember that when in Cornwall, cream always rises to the top so the jam always goes first! For a more 'fine dining' experience, a trip to the exquisite Rick Stein's seafood restaurant just along the north coast at the pretty, traditional fishing village of Padstow may be the ultimate treat – naturally it's very popular, especially in the summer months, so be sure to make a reservation in advance to avoid any disappointment and hunger pangs!
