A secluded gem tucked into the edge of the cliffs, known as Freathy, and invisible until you get to its parking space, Gulls Roost boasts panoramic views of the spectacular coastline it overlooks – as far as Rame Head and out to sea to the Eddystone Rocks in the distance – at night the sweep of the lighthouse is visible on the horizon.

Steep steps lead past a little patio and on down to the bungalow itself. The spacious sitting/dining-room with its comfortable sofas and huge window showcases the stunning sea views. As well as the kitchen and a cloakroom at the back of the property, there are two en suite bedrooms both of which enjoy marvellous views out to sea.

Sliding doors from the sitting/dining-room and one of the bedrooms lead outside to a small patio-area in front of the house, just beyond which the cliff slopes away. A footpath nearby descends to the fabulous sandy beach below – worth every step of the steep climb back up! South east Cornwall is a bit of a secret where narrow lanes lead down to sandy beaches and tiny villages hidden away in small rocky coves.

A mile or so on from the quaintly-named village of Crafthole you come to Freathy Cliff, which follows the coastline almost down to the promontory of Rame Head – and there is Gulls Roost. The coastal path walks on the Rame peninsula or in nearby Mount Edgcumbe estate are wonderful – the dog will be in doggie heaven. Regrettably, due to the sloping cliff beyond the patio, this property is unsuitable for younger children.
