Steeped in charm and just moments from the water's edge, this historic pink-washed cottage offers a quintessential taste of coastal life in one of Cornwall's most picturesque corners. Tucked away among the narrow streets and winding alleyways of the pretty village of Kingsand, and dating back to the 1600s, Mayflower Cottage is one of the most recognised and treasured homes in the village.

From the moment you arrive, the cottage's pretty façade and traditional features set the tone for a cosy and memorable stay. Step inside to find a warm and welcoming sitting-room, where original character blends effortlessly with stylish modern touches. On cooler days, the electric wood-burning effect stove creates a snug atmosphere-perfect for curling up with a good book or unwinding after a day of coastal adventures.

A stable-door leads to the cottage's kitchen and dining area, traditionally styled and equipped with everything you need to prepare and enjoy holiday meals. That said, with a tempting array of pubs, cafes and restaurants just steps away, you'd be forgiven for letting someone else do the cooking.

When bedtime beckons, you'll find two delightful cottage bedrooms tucked away on the first floor, each thoughtfully styled to reflect the charm and character of the home. The main bedroom features a comfortable double bed, soft linens and calming decor that invites a restful night's sleep. The second bedroom, with twin beds, is perfect for children or friends sharing, and equally cosy with its cottage-style touches. The family bathroom completes the upstairs layout, offering a bath with fitted shower - ideal for a relaxing holiday soak.

Along with the wonderful selection of places to eat and drink just a short stroll from the cottage, there's also the village shops and galleries to explore. The South West Coast Path runs right through Kingsand, it's easy to leave the car behind and enjoy the area on foot. The local community is friendly and relaxed, hosting concerts, festivals and events throughout the year - making it a truly special place to settle in, unwind and feel right at home.

It's easy to immerse yourself in the charm of Kingsand, but the village is just the beginning - this whole corner of Cornwall is packed with treasures waiting to be discovered. Designated a National Landscape (formerly Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), the region offers breathtaking scenery and endless ways to explore it. Walkers will find a paradise of coastal paths with stunning vistas around every bend, leading to quiet beaches and hidden coves along Whitsand Bay and beyond.

Just moments away, Mount Edgcumbe Country Park serves up a historic house and garden set in 800 acres of park and woodlands. There's so much to do, one day simply won't be enough. For water lovers, the park also offers paddleboarding, kayaking, coasteering and wild swimming safaris, while Whitsand Bay's surf school is perfect for those keen to ride the waves.

If historic grandeur is more your style, nearby Antony House (National Trust) and Port Eliot offer elegant escapes and for a taste of city life, a short ferry ride across the Sound takes you to the vibrant Maritime City of Plymouth.

And for a taste of city life, hop on the ferry across the Sound to Plymouth, where history and culture meet the sea. Wander the cobbled streets of the historic Barbican, indulge in culinary delights at the Royal William Yard, take in a top rated show at the acclaimed Theatre Royal or stand on The Hoe, where Sir Francis Drake famously played bowls before heading out to defeat the Spanish Armada. With sweeping views across Plymouth Sound, it's a place steeped in maritime and naval history.
