Mr Neighbour September 2023
1 St Josephs was a first class base for our week in the Isle of Wight. Spacious and extremely well equipped, it had a warm, homely and inviting feel.
Both the kitchen and the sitting room overlooked the sea and the passing ships, which meant that every day you were reminded that you were by the seaside. The terrace was really good for the feel of outdoor living.
Ventnor was a great location for travelling out to all parts of the island.
For us, this property easily earned its five star rating.
Mrs Collinge April 2023
Excellent well equipped accommodation. Ventnor difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Shortage of quality dining in location

Mrs O’Neill September 2022
A fantastic apartment, so light and bright and comfortable, with all the equipment you could ever need. It would have been useful to know there was a tumble drier and clothes horse ahead of time as I could have packed lighter (instead it felt like we packed everything but the kitchen sink!). We had a wonderful time on our baby’s first holiday and wouldn’t hesitate to stay in the apartment again.
Mrs Dawson August 2022
Lovely flat in a brilliant location - well equipped with everything we needed. We had a fabulous trip to the Isle of Wight and would certainly return again
Mrs Fairweather August 2022
We had the most wonderful stay at 1 St Joseph's and felt at home in the beautiful apartment. The beds were all super comfy, views from the kitchen and sitting room to die for and perfect location for exploring Bonchurch and Ventnor by foot. The welcome note waiting for us was full of tips and warmth. And the bookcase had a better reading selection than our local library. It helped that I was half way through 'Lucky Jim' at home and hadn't brought it with us. Could not believe it when I saw it sitting there nestled amongst a few other Penguin classics. The perfect base for a relaxing week in the Isle of Wight - thank you
Mrs Olliver July 2022
Fabulous property with stunning sea views. Spacious, stylish decor, well equipped and clean. In a great location, close to beaches and Ventnor town.
Mrs Groves July 2022
I can’t recommend this accommodation enough, the apartment is beautifully decorated and so well equipped. There are lovely views of the sea and it is a perfect base for a lovely holiday.
Mes Charles July 2022
We loved our stay at 1 St Josephs. Fantastic views. Lovely sunny little terrace. Quality of fit out and kitchen equipment high end (mostly John Lewis). Also basic kitchen cleaning materials all provided. Nice roomy feel. Great to have an allocated parking space at the back (only one - and parking at the front usually full). Beds comfy. Shower pressure very good. Nice welcome box of quality chocolates, and a card with great restaurant recommendations.
It is up a steep hill out of town, so you need to be relatively fit and a walker to stay. Or be prepared to drive. We found a great walk down a steep road and then steps to the undercliff coastal walkway (to a great cafe called The SeaPot), which enabled us to walk into Ventnor in 15-20 mins.
We would recommend this place for 2 couplies, or 2 friends that want their own bedroom/bathroom. Or for a family of four, as the one king bed can be configured as two singles.
Mrs Lane June 2022
A comfortable stay in a well appointed flat. Lovely sea view and able to walk to some very good restaurants.
Mrs Pleavin May 2022
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely spacious apartment. Couldn't take our eyes off the seaviews from the lounge and kitchen. Quality fittings and appliances. Parking sometimes available on the street in front but there is an allocated parking space at the back a little distance away. Short walk to convenience store (limited stock) and to bus stop. Highly recommended, would stay again.
Mrs Snow February 2022
Absolute Gem of a property- superbly equipped and well looked after home. Easy distance to the town and beach ( obviously hills to navigate as it’s Ventnor) and the Flat is in a quiet residential area with the benefit of private parking. Although we went out of season with appalling weather, we had a brilliant time and would highly recommend this property.
Mrs Cowie February 2022
Amazing views from the enormous windows, great for spotting boats! So spacious it was perfect with 2 young children. The option to have twin beds was great for us and the en suite meant we had our own space. So many amenities meant little packing and a really stress free holiday. We had the space and everything else we needed. Perfect place to stay!
Mrs Allen September 2021
Excellently furnished, equipped and a wonderful holiday home. Classic Cottages team above and beyond helpful, amazing service

Mr Smith July 2021
Excellent apartment, ideal for families or extended families. Good location and great views out to sea from the living room & kitchen. Probably the best we have stayed in across a number of companies. Cleaning and covid measures also excellent
Miss Young June 2021
Excellent property with beautiful decoration furnishing throughout. Full of all the equipment we could need for our stay! A reasonable price too! Great service too!
Mrs Hawkins May 2021
Would book again. Lovely location, sea view, easy walk into town and parking on site. Directions to access accurate.
Mr Wilson September 2020
This is a lovely property in a good location about 10 mins walk into Ventnor, our visit in September found many places closed but this could be due to the virus situation, those that were open were very conscientious about the situation. We used the buses to travel around whilst walking the coastal path, these were clean efficient and on time (some delays due to road resurfacing). The property is well equipped and spacious, was a lovely place to return and relax in. We had no issues during our stay and were able to sit out on the terrace on a couple of evenings.
Mr Parkin August 2020
The cottage was very well equipped. There were no oven gloves so I had to use a towel. But there were so many things supplied that I didn't expect.
There were only 2 real issues.
One was the water pressure for the shower in the main bathroom. This was too low to have a decent shower sho we ended up sharing the en suite shower room.
The second problem was the bad drain smell emanating primarily from the en suite bathroom. I did report this and someone came around quickly and reported back that the drains had been thoroughly flushed through. This did resolve the issue but the smell had returned before the end of the holiday. I think a more permanent solution needs to be found for this problem.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review. We are glad to read you found the flat well equipped. There are oven gloves available, perhaps they were hidden under a tea towel? We will try to leave them on top in future. The water pressure to the main shower is normally fine as previous guests have mentioned but we will ensure this is double checked. We have now rodded the drains and flushed everything through. We do hope this issue did not detract from your holiday too much and that you still enjoyed our stunning sea views, light and airy apartment and Ventnor's many amenities. Sarah, Customer Service
Mr Price October 2019
Again, a lovely and well maintained property that is in easy walking distance of Ventnor town center and bus stops.
Miss Sandwell October 2019
Lovely windows letting light in and lovely view Nice modern decor and interesting selection of books to browse through (especially Nammet) Decent water pressure (sometimes it's the simple things) Nice clean fresh bedding Peaceful location and interesting walk through the streets down to Ventnor
Mrs Cutler September 2019

Mrs Jones September 2019
The apartment is light and airy and spacious with beautiful views of the sea and passing ships and boats.
Ms Coley August 2019
Exceptional accommodation, fully equipped with everything you could need and more, fantastic location, clean, comfortable. Will definitely be returning.
mrs Roberts June 2019
Lovely big apartment with beautiful sea views & very well equipped. The only downsides are that the allocated parking space is difficult to manoeuvre into and that the whole area is set on a hill side so there are steep paths and hills to get anywhere so you need to be quite fit if you want to walk around.

Thanks for reviewing 1 St Josephs and we're so pleased you had a great stay overall. Madeira Road is set above the town of Ventor which does mean a few steep paths here and there but we're sure you'd agree the panoramic views out across The Solent are worth it! There is a private parking space located at the rear of the property and also limited additional free parking on the street in front of 1 St Josephs if you find this easier. Bryony, Customer Support
Mrs Ecob May 2019
