TwinPerfectly located just a short stroll away from the charming harbourside village of Charlestown on the south coast of Cornwall, with its Grade II Listed harbour and connections to Poldark, Penrose is a delightful cottage situated in a peaceful courtyard location amongst a collection of similar properties. Stylishly furnished and beautifully decorated, this gorgeous, semi-detached retreat is ideal for a family holiday or romantic escape, and your four-legged friend is welcome to join you too.
From the moment you step over the threshold of Penrose you will be enchanted. The ground floor is home to two pretty bedrooms with an elegant principal bedroom with impressive super-king size bed and direct access via patio doors onto the decked area. Bedroom two is a twin bedroom, suitable for either adults or children. The family bathroom has a large bath, ideal for a long soak, with an overhead shower.
The first floor is home to a fabulous open plan living area which cleverly offers a sitting-area, kitchen and dining space, ideal for sociable holidays. The sitting-area has comfy sofas with plenty of room for everyone to relax and a Smart TV for chilled evenings. The dining space is neatly tucked away next to the kitchen so guests can chat whilst the chef prepares dinner. The kitchen has all the equipment you'll need, including the all-important dishwasher, so no squabbling over the washing up here.
Outside to the front you will find a private decked area with table and chairs where you can sit and enjoy the Cornish sunshine and dine al fresco throughout the day. The cottage is cleverly situated around a shared courtyard, and you are welcome to enjoy this space during your stay. Penrose also has its own private parking space which is rare for Charlestown.
Whether you are looking for an out-of-season getaway or a summer holiday with the family, Penrose is a very special place for your Cornish escape.
Charlestown is a magical place to spend time with pretty pastel fishermen's cottages and beautiful Georgian properties lining the historic harbour. Visitors may recognise the surroundings as the area is a favourite with the film industry, including Poldark. You will also find a good selection of traditional inns and cafes within easy reach, perfect for holiday treats.
The beach next to the harbour is south-facing with pebble and shingle and alternative more well-known beaches can be found a short drive away and include Carlyon Bay with facilities including a beach cafe, bar and surf shop, Pentewan and Duporth. Walkers can enjoy endless opportunities to explore the South West Coast Path which runs through the village or just take one of the wonderful old footpaths in the local area.
You may choose to spend your precious holiday time close to home, but if you do decide to venture further afield head to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, a 200-acre garden discovered derelict over 30 years ago and lovingly restored to include woodland trails, adventure areas and a jungle rope bridge. Or perhaps visit the mighty biomes of the Eden Project, a stunning botanical attraction built within a former china clay pit.
However you plan to spend your idyllic days, Penrose is perfectly situated for all your Cornish adventures.
