This lovingly converted barn is set in tranquil countryside adjacent to the magnificent Luxulyan Valley, a World Heritage Site of outstanding beauty that just begs to be explored. Views from the garden encompass the owner's fields and woodland, where bird watching hides and benches allow this wildlife haven to be appreciated.
This is an idyllic spot, perfect for dog walking or just sitting and relaxing. Detached and with only the friendly yet discreet owner and Snuggledown (1975) as unobtrusive neighbours, Trethevey is ideal for families or groups of friends. It can also be booked alongside Snuggledown for memorable multi-generational holidays. The lovely owner is truly welcoming and a cream tea awaits guests on arrival.
Trethevey has a large sitting-room with comfortable soft leather sofas, a wood-burner and steep wooden stairs leading up to a gallery-area, a perfect den for older children. There is a Sky digibox providing Freesat channels and guests can bring their own viewing cards if they wish to access other channels or Sky films.
French doors lead onto the patio and lawn where a wooden table and chairs and barbecue-area encourages outside meals in warm weather. Two single bedrooms share a shower-room downstairs while upstairs, tucked under the sloping ceilings of the eaves, one double bedroom has an en suite shower-room and the other an en suite bathroom.
Set close to the pretty little village of Luxulayn, with the cutest of pop up shops for those essential provisions, and a traditional village pub which is popular with locals and visitors alike.
This is a beautiful area to explore, and it's a wonderful base for a holiday that promises the best of the coast and countryside.
The nearby south coast has a great choice of beaches you can try a different one every day and the popular sailing town of Fowey has a great choice of boutique shops, galleries and cafes and why not join a sea safari whist you are there. Lostwithiel is a charming little town, set on the banks of the river with a small selection of independent shops, many of them specialising in antiques, and the remains of its ancient castle to explore or pop over to Charlestown where tall ships anchor in the historic harbour.
If you like some adventures on two wheels, discover the woodland trails at Cardinham Woods or Lanhydrock and for those aspiring Monty Dons amongst you, the delights of the world-famous Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the National Trust's Lanhydrock house and gardens are sure to inspire, as is the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery which also boasts an excellent cafe and gift shop.
Well behaved dogs are extremely welcome, but please ensure they are kept on leads if there is livestock in the surrounding fields.
Please note that the rural location means that WiFi can be patchy but the owner is happy for guests to use her connection if they need to.
