Bedroom 1
TwinBedroom 2
DoubleTucked away in the charming village of Gurnard on the northwest coast of the Isle of Wight, this cosy two bedroom cottage offers a relaxed coastal lifestyle, complete with a pretty south-facing garden perfect for soaking up the island sun. Ideally located just a short walk from friendly local pubs, a delightful cafe bistro and the locals much-loved “secret beach” – a peaceful lesser known spot to enjoy the sea, fresh coastal air and its incredible sunsets over the Solent.
You will feel right at home from the moment you step into Bay Cottage. The entrance hall provides a handy space for your holiday essentials, leading through to the cosy sitting-room – perfect for unwinding with a film after a busy day exploring the island. The dining-area is a lovely spot to gather for relaxed family meals, while the well-equipped kitchen overlooks the pretty garden. A convenient ground floor wet-room completes the downstairs.
Please take care on the stairs as they are a little steep and narrow, leading up to a light and bright comfortable twin bedroom and a charming double bedroom.
Outside, the generous garden is a wonderful place to relax, with outdoor furniture for al fresco dining, an afternoon tipple in the sunshine or keeping an eye on the little ones as they play. There is also a summer-house with a sandpit and games, which you are welcome to make use of during your stay.
The village of Gurnard is rich in history, with one of its most popular attractions being Gurnard Marsh Nature Reserve. This is a great spot for crabbing, home to a variety of wildlife, and is popular for walking and cycling through the many trails that wind through the reserve. Gurnard beach is perfect for swimming, sunbathing, water sports, and is a particularly good location for watching liners and large ships entering Southampton waters.
You can walk from Gurnard to Cowes (just over two miles) along the seafront where you will find a bustling town filled with some lovely boutique shops and numerous quality pubs, restaurants and cafes. Cowes is predominantly known as the world sailing capital with Cowes Week being one of the longest running and most prestigious sailing regattas in the world, a must see if you are here during this exciting event.
The Isle of Wight is not only known for its stunning beaches, but there are many historical sites for you to visit to – Dinosaur Isle is Britain’s first purpose-built dinosaur museum, featuring a range of fossils and interactive exhibits. Osborne House was the holiday residence of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, now a museum showcasing their life and estate, and Carisbrooke Castle is a great fortress which began as an Anglo- Saxon earthwork defence against Viking raids.
Whether you’re enjoying fun filled family activities, scenic coastal walks, lazy beach days or exploring the many charming towns and villages, you are sure to have an unforgettable stay at Bay Cottage.
