KingSurrounded by tranquil countryside on the edge of the Isle of Wight National Landscape and close to the charming seaside island towns of Yarmouth and Cowes, St Hubert's Lodge is a beautifully renovated gamekeeper's cottage, where traditional charm blends seamlessly with a contemporary styled, oak-framed, modern lodge house; perfectly designed to make the most of the stunning, rural setting.
Designed by an award-winning architect and stylishly appointed by the current owner, St Hubert's Lodge is the most wonderful retreat, and from the moment you step over the threshold you will be enchanted. The grand, oak doors welcome you into the spacious hallway, with floor to ceiling windows offering delightful rural views at every turn. The super spacious open plan kitchen/diner is perfect for sociable holidays and well-equipped with everything you will need to create culinary masterpieces. An oil-fired AGA, that runs all year round, is supplemented by a conventional electric oven and gas hob. Down two steps you will find a cosy snug which is level with the garden and ideal for watching the wildlife in this peaceful haven. Hares, rabbits, pheasants, squirrels and a large variety of colourful birdlife are frequent visitors, although they may keep a low profile if other four-legged friends are in residence!
From the kitchen/diner a door leads to the principal bedroom suite with its private bathroom below. This splendid bedroom has a large floor to ceiling window and a king-size bed. Fall asleep under the stars and wake up to an amazing dawn view. In a mountain chalet style, there are no curtains or blinds. But there are also no neighbours! The gorgeous bathroom with WC below has a large slipper bath and shower.
The cosy sitting-room is situated in the cottage part of the building with a large wood-burning stove, perfect for keeping you warm throughout the seasons. Ambient heating is via a ground source under-floor system. An additional modern gas-fired balanced flue central heating system in the cottage area ensures you will always be warm and toasty here. There is a second entrance hall and cloakroom, ideal for storing your beach gear, walking boots and dog essentials along with an additional bathroom and utility-room on this floor too.
Bedrooms two and three are accessed via a second staircase which is characterful, wide and steep. Both are beautifully furnished and sharing a shower-room with WC.
Step outside and you will find beautifully maintained wrap-around gardens and plenty of options to sit and enjoy the sun or shade, where you can spend endless summer days in blissful seclusion. Guests can gather around the fire bowl in the evenings and enjoy stargazing and cooking over hot coals. The children and your four-legged friends can run free and have fun - please note there is a pond in the grounds and children must be supervised.
Underwood Cabin (4995) is your neighbour but tucked away with its own private garden. Sleeping six, it can be booked alongside St Hubert's Lodge making this a wonderful base for larger gatherings.
Whether you are looking for a peaceful idyll away from it all, or a base for a family holiday on the island, St Hubert's Lodge is the most stunning holiday home perfectly situated to explore the island or just relax and enjoy the nature that surrounds you.
Less than a mile away from the property, you'll find the remarkable Newtown Creek Nature Reserve together with its hides. A true paradise for birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts, and perfect for those leisurely walks with your furry friend.
The island, especially the West Wight, offers many beautiful coastal paths ideal for walking and cycling. You'll also find delightful villages with charming boutique shops. And when it comes to beaches, there's something for everyone! Whether you're dreaming of a relaxing day soaking up the sun by calm, crystal-clear waters, or looking for a beach with waves perfect for surfing and water sports, you'll find it here.
Cowes, just a short drive away, is famous for hosting the world's largest sailing regatta, Cowes Week, and its lively atmosphere. There are plenty of pubs and restaurants to choose from, making it a fun spot for the whole family. You can even take a stroll along the promenade from Cowes to Gurnard, renowned for its breathtaking sunsets. Enjoy a lovely evening drink or meal at The Woodvale as the sun dips below the horizon.
Yarmouth is a small town with a lovely harbour, wooden pier, and even a castle and country park. You'll also find a good selection of cafes, pubs and independent shops, so there's plenty to keep you occupied for the day.
Whatever you're hoping to discover during your island getaway, I'm sure you'll find it here on the Isle of Wight
