Whether you’re an avid walker, book lover or historian, Herefordshire is a wonderful holiday destination with much to offer.
Things to do in Herefordshire

With the Wye Valley and River Wye trailing through Herefordshire, walkers are spoilt for choice when it comes to relaxed strolls. Walk to the top of Symonds Yak Rock for unbeatable views, follow the Herefordshire Trail for 154 miles of unending beauty, from the Malvern Hills to the Golden Valley, or visit the Shropshire Hills National Landscape for rolling scenes peppered with pretty villages and market towns. You also have the Forest of Dean on your doorstep; a woodland so magical it inspired J.R.R. Tolkien! The vibrant town of Hay-on-Wye is a book lover’s dream, with streets lined with secondhand bookshops and cosy cafés that invite you to sink into your newest read with a coffee in hand. Historians will love exploring Herefordshire’s picturesque Black & White Villages, while Hereford Cathedral promises a grand place to explore full of incredible architecture - and an escape room for good measure!
Places to eat in Herefordshire

Home to sprawling countryside as far as the eye can see, it’s little surprise that Herefordshire has made a name for itself for delicious homegrown fare. Local pubs and restaurants take great pride in combining locally sourced ingredients to create mouthwatering dishes, while the county’s many beautiful orchards and vineyards ensure thirsts are quenched in style - we particularly recommend following the fabulous Cider Routes to fully immerse yourself in the apple-scented scenery. Hereford has quickly become one of the top foodie destinations in the country, with welcoming gastropubs bars offering hearty Sunday lunches and winsome cocktails, while Ross-on-Wye boasts a cosy collection of cafés and pubs, perfect for a post-river refuel. One of the charming Black & White Villages Herefordshire is known for, Leominster promises beautiful streets lined with antique shops and cafés, inviting you to shop till you drop into a plush armchair with a wedge of cake and pot of tea.
