Tucked away in a peaceful hamlet near the village of Herstmonceux, this quintessential English country cottage lends itself to family gatherings, celebrations or romantic breaks. Beautifully styled and brimming with character Broyle Cottage has a perfect mix of rustic charm and modern-day living.

Stepping inside you are greeted by oak beams (some low), undulating floors, leaded windows, open fires and pitched rooms which tell a story and reflects its heritage.

From the garden, step into the kitchen which has all the chef of the party needs to rustle up some family favourites using some delicious Sussex produce. The dining-room sits next door and has a beautiful table, open fire and sofa.

Move to the sitting-room, light the fire and snuggle up to watch movies or play board games together.

When the time comes to rest one's sleepy head, there are three beautifully appointed bedrooms to choose from. On the ground floor is a spacious king-size double with a door that opens to the pretty cottage garden. The ground floor also has a spacious shower-room and a cloakroom. Stairs lead to the first floor where you will find a king-size with an en suite bathroom, and a double which shares the ground floor shower-room or the en suite bathroom.

The charming cottage garden has many places to relax; bursting with colour throughout the year it's a gardener's dream and includes a raised deck which sits beneath a large pergola, perfect for al fresco dining, a morning coffee or barbecues beneath the twinkling stars.

Broyle Cottage is only a short drive from the village of Herstmonceux where there are a couple of shops, restaurants, a bakers, coffee shop and pub. Herstmonceux is also home to the Observatory Science Centre and picturesque medieval moated castle.

There are some lovely walks and cycle paths nearby, including a walk around the moated Herstmonceux castle. Other walks include the Cuckoo Trail, South Downs National Park and the High Weald National Landscape.

The market town of Hailsham is nearby and has several independent shops, pubs, restaurants and supermarkets including a Waitrose.

The Sussex coast is only a short drive. Visit Hastings, Pevensey Bay, Birling Gap, Cuckmere Haven or a little further afield, Brighton or Camber Sands. Eastbourne's Sovereign Harbour is a lovely place to watch the boats, enjoy a meal or take a boat trip to see the iconic cliffs at Beachy Head.

The nearest train station is Polegate, which has services to London Victoria and Gatwick Airport.

1066 Country is only a stone's throw away. Visit the historic town of Battle with its array of independent shops, tea rooms, pubs, abbey ruins and battlefield.

Get tickets to Glyndebourne and picnic in the wonderful grounds. Enjoy a day exploring National Trust houses, castles and gardens. Visit Charleston House, The Clergy House in Alfriston, Lewes Castle, Michelham Priory, Pevensey Castle or Rudyard Kipling's home at Bateman's.

However, you decide to spend your time here in Sussex, Broyle Cottage is the perfect bolthole for all your holiday adventures.
