Bedroom 1
KingLocated in the picturesque Blackdown Hills near the Somerset and Devon border you will find The Byre. A one bedroom converted cowshed which combines original character with modern flourishes. Set on a 24-acre farm in the Blackdown Hills National Landscape (formally known as Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), it is a delightful place to switch off, unwind and explore the great outdoors. The Stables (6065) , its sister property, is situated just next door, so ideal for another couple.
Converted in 2024 this modern take on the former cowshed has been finished to exacting standards and you will feel the quality throughout. French doors lead off the living-room to your private outdoor space and beyond to the lush green paddock. Sunset views are a must here.
As you enter the property the sense of scale from the vaulted ceiling in the main living area is impressive and provides a tempting place to pass the hours and perhaps put your feet up on the electric reclining sofa. The living space features a modern kitchen fully fitted with all the appliances you would expect from such a high-end conversion. The large living area maintains a lovely warm and cosy feel, and you will love sitting with the French doors open on a warm day.
The Byre is conveniently set out on one level and on leaving the main living area a corridor leads you down to the dramatic double height main bedroom with its glorious king-size bed, super-soft linens and lots of wardrobe space. Just outside the main bedroom is the luxury shower-room, complete with comfy robes and slippers.
Off the main living area, you will find French doors leading out to your private outdoor space, which is a carefully crafted landscaped area with a fire-pit, loveseat and a table and chairs for peaceful al fresco dining or a spot of stargazing – no light pollution here.
Beyond your private patio space you have acres to wander, explore and breathe in the fresh air via the paddock opposite. If that wasn’t enough there is also a stunning open fronted games barn (shared with the owners and available on request) with table-tennis and other fun pastimes to enjoy. Please speak to the owners during your stay should you wish to use this facility, the wonderful friendly owners live on site in the main house but are keen to give guests lots of privacy.
There is plenty of parking is plenty for two cars and only a few yards to the entrance.
When you are out and about you will find that The Byre is in a great spot for exploring. Your immediate position is amongst the glorious Blackdown Hills National Landscape, so endless walks and cycle opportunities on your doorstep. As you look a little further you will find some wonderful spots around Devon, Dorset and Somerset, such as Taunton, Chard, Wellington, Illminster and Honiton – all around a 30-minute drive. Stretching out a little further will get you to the Jurassic Coast and popular locations like Lyme Regis, Seaton and Sidmouth.
To make sure you are always well stocked up there are numerous local supermarkets that will deliver as well as some delicious organic options from Riverford and Able & Cole.
