Situated close to the borders of Somerset, Dorset and Devon, is The Cygnet - Lodge 11, a luxury Scandinavian style lodge. It is part of the select Swandown gated development, which comprises twenty private lodges, all set in the parkland of the famous Cricket St. Thomas country estate. It is the perfect spot for a premium couples' retreat or for spending time with family and friends.

As you enter the exclusive Swandown development with its tall trees and timber clad lodges you will immediately get that comforting holiday feel. The Cygnet has two allocated parking spaces right by the lodge and is located on the frontline, facing south, with stunning, uninterrupted views of the beautiful parkland and countryside beyond.

On entering from the private patio, you will find the impressive open plan kitchen, dining and living space with its vaulted ceiling and wall of glass with doors out onto one of the most expansive rural panoramas you could wish to see. The large designer kitchen has all the mod-cons you would expect including a washing machine/drier and Tassimo coffee machine and is the perfect place for cooking up a feast before retiring to put your feet up in the lovely living area with its cosy wood-burner, reclining armchairs, Smart TV, DVD player and DAB radio.

Off the hallway you will find two large bedrooms, the first features a sumptuous king-size bed with doors out onto the private terrace. The peace and quiet here is palpable and bodes well for a perfect night's sleep. The en suite shower-room has an enclosed shower as well as complimentary bath robes to wrap yourselves in after a fruitful day of exploring.

The second bedroom is just as lovely, and the feeling of tranquility continues. Another tempting king-size bed is on offer here along with complimentary bath robes, making it perfect for lazy lie-ins. The en suite features a deep bath to relax in until your heart's content.

Venturing outside you will find the terrace which runs the length of the lodge and faces due south with almost 180 degrees of uninterrupted views of the Somerset and Dorset countryside including the Cricket St Thomas estate. The terrace offers a table and chairs as well as sun-loungers and a barbecue for those warmer days. It really is the most perfect spot for al fresco dining and drinking in this blissful setting. The terrace is also a great viewing point for the local wildlife including deer, rabbits, buzzards and kites, all right on your doorstep.

Within the Swandown development you will also find a fabulous heated indoor swimming pool (must be booked) which you would then have all to yourselves. There is also further visitor parking.

As for local exploring, you will discover that you really are in the midst of a multitude of options. Immediately on your doorstep is the renowned 1000-acre Cricket St Thomas estate with its 18th Century manor house hotel (featured in the TV sitcom, To the Manor Born) with gardens designed by Capability Brown. The estate has cattle, sheep and lambs in the springtime and Swandown residents are free to roam the gardens and lakes.

Also close by is the stunning Forde Abbey and Gardens, the West Somerset Railway and the living and working Haynes Motor Museum, home to the UK's largest collection of cars and motorcycles.

You will also find yourself equidistant to the local Somerset towns of Crewkerne and Chard, both just four miles away with a range of shops, pubs, eateries and supermarkets. The jewel of the Jurassic Coast, Lyme Regis, is just a short 30-minute car journey from The Cygnet.
