Find your own little slice of woodland heaven at this Danish designed wooden beauty nestled in the heart of Devon - a peaceful, architectural marvel hidden among the oak trees!

Sun-Dapple by name, sun-dappled by nature, this stunning 'truffle', aka a carefully, uniquely designed wooden domed cabin built in situ, awaits to welcome you. Offering a peaceful, off-grid escape, a stay at Sun Dapple can be a romantic retreat for two, or a family getaway for four should you and your clan be looking for a walk on the wild side. Located within 15 acres of private oak woodland called Honeydown, Sun-Dapple is one of five 'truffles' (so-called after their small, rounded shape) and is the epitome of glamping.

The result of one couples' love of sustainability combined with the ingenuity of an innovative architect from Copenhagen, Honeydown and its nest of retreats is the blissful result of this Devon-Denmark collaboration. Gently inviting you to shed your everyday worries, Sun-Dapple offers paired-back luxury where you can revel in time to yourself, whether that's nights gazing at the stars through the treetops, lazy brunches or mindful walks through the woods.

On arrival, follow the magical woodland path to Sun-Dapple. Set on the far edge of the wood and facing west over an idyllic field that can, depending on the season, be a wild flower-dotted meadow or filled with frolicking lambs, it's a charming spot. Take the steps up inside and you'll discover a domed space that's open plan yet snug, and equipped with a comfy double wooden bed draped in winter duvets, soft bedding and crisp linens, ensuring extra cosiness at night. In addition, there's a log burner, a bean bag for lounging, a freestanding hammock and an upcycled table with chairs. Lighting is provided by battery-operated lamps, and there's plenty of blankets to wrap yourself up in. Should you have children, up to two fold-out beds can be provided, with babies welcome too - you'll just need to bring your own travel cot with you.

At Sun-Dapple, it's all about al fresco cooking, so there's a great 'cookeaterie' area, a covered shelter to cook meals and dine, so there's no problem if the weather turns. Equipped with a gas hob, gas-fired barbecue and an aquaforno (an ingenious mix of barbecue and pizza oven), there's plenty of fun and immersive cooking options for rustling up fabulous feasts to enjoy around the wooden dining-table. In addition, there's a fire-pit that's made for gatherings, perhaps roasting a marshmallow or two and sipping on hot chocolate or a hot toddy as you listen to the owls hooting in the canopy above.

In addition, you have your own kitchen prep area, complete with a fridge with a small freezer compartment, just a stroll away at the cabin. Here, you'll also find your own allocated bathroom, complete with hot shower and flushing toilet. There's also mains power with sockets for charging any electrical items should you have them. Being off grid, Honeydown is WiFi free, making it the perfect destination for a digital detox.

Honeydown is a tranquil, 15-acre oak woodland that's been established for over 200 years. The owners, keen to develop a more natural and sustainable woodland than its previous life as a commercial plantation, is gently allowing the site to rewild naturally, becoming a protected habitat for many types of woodland flora and fauna. Honeydown is surrounded by open farmland with just sheep as neighbours, but its fab location between Dartmoor and the north Devonshire coast means there's plenty to see nearby. Hatherleigh, the smallest town in Devon, is nearby at just a short 10-15 minute walk away. Home to two pubs, a café and a small selection of shops, it's well worth spending some time here pottering about. If a day at the seaside beckons, head to Bude for a swim in the sea pool, take a walk along the sandy beach and treat yourself to an ice cream. For countryside lovers, drive just 15 minutes to explore Dartmoor's 368 square miles of open moorland, with lakes, rivers, woodland and pretty villages to discover. Other must-see and must-do things include the Tarka Trail, the longest traffic-free cycle path in the UK (the lovely owners of Sun-Dapple can hire bikes for you ahead of your stay), Rosemoor Gardens for a stroll amongst the flowers followed by afternoon tea, and Meldon Reservoir for its views across Dartmoor at 900 feet above sea level.
