KingTucked away along a quiet country lane and nestled in the glorious Cornish countryside, come and escape the everyday at Great Meadow View. Set all on one level, this tranquil retreat offers spacious, light-filled interiors that open out to a huge garden, a haven for both young and old to relax, play and soak in the surroundings.
Located close to the nature reserve at Helman Tor and with easy access to both the north and south coasts, this is an ideal base to explore Cornwall's beaches, moors and charming villages .
Make your way up the private drive and arrive at your wonderful holiday home. This is the place to truly immerse yourself in the outdoor space around you. The sunny terrace is the perfect spot to linger over a leisurely lunch or fire up the barbecue on balmy summer evenings whilst the children have fun in the treehouse, swinging and sliding on the play equipment. Garden games are a shoo-in on the expansive lawn and for bird and wildlife lovers, sit back and see who makes a visit.
Step inside and budding chefs will adore the kitchen/breakfast-room, where a generous kitchen island takes centre stage-ideal for preparing holiday meals while still soaking in the beautiful surroundings. The breakfast table sits proudly in front of the large patio doors that open onto the sunny terrace so even when dining indoors, you can delight in the surroundings.
For more formal dining, lay up the dining-table where the chatter will flow as easily as the wine and, after dinner, the sitting-room beckons. A true showstopper of a room with oodles of space for all to chillout and relax in front of the toasty wood-burner with large windows on three sides that truly embrace the gorgeous setting.
The three bedrooms offer a peaceful sanctuary, each one beautifully presented for rest and relaxation. Expect soft linens, plump cushions and gorgeous throws in calming tones to echo the natural beauty outside.
For larger parties, Great Meadow Retreat (5961) sleeps eleven and is ideal for milestone birthday celebrations or extended family groups.
This area is a rambler's and wildlife enthusiast's paradise so don't forget your walking boots and head out to explore the great outdoors that surrounds you. There is no shortage of fantastic walks at the nature reserve, spotting all manner of plants and wildlife along the way but the icing on the cake has to be the climb to the top of Helman Tor when on a clear day, you can see the Atlantic coast to the north and the English Channel to the south - bliss.
You may be tempted to head off along part of the 30 mile Saints Way, a pilgrimage way stretching across the county from one coast to the other, also passing through the reserve.
The world renowned Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan will delight garden enthusiasts and the Lanhydrock Estate (National Trust) with its magnificent country house, glorious gardens and wooded parkland makes for a perfect day out. Lanhydrock also has a network of trails, great for cyclists of all abilities, and for more fun on two wheels, venture to Cardinham Woods and the Camel Trail.
In the little village of Lanivet there's a small shop for those essential provisions along with a pub, popular fish and chip takeaway and even a village tennis court. At the nearby town of Lostwithiel you can discover treasures and delights in the antiques and vintage shops and conquer the remains of the medieval castle. The local garden centre provides wonderful views of the castle and whilst you are there why not enjoy some treats in their ever so popular tea room.
No visit to Cornwall is complete without a trip to the coast so head to the gentler south coast to marvel at the historic tall ships at Charlestown and wander the narrow streets in the trendy harbourside town of Fowey with its abundance of shops, galleries, pubs and cafes and plenty of activity on the water. The golden sands of Daymer Bay and Polzeath are waiting to be discovered on the north coast where you might be tempted to try your hand at surfing and at Cornwall's culinary capital, Padstow, gastronomic delights will tempt you around every corner.
