Zip and linkA luxurious residence with far reaching sea views, offering a real home-from-home any time of year, in the idyllic and tranquil setting of Gillan Creek near the Helford River mouth.
Marnylunn means 'mariners cove' in the Cornish language, which is very apt with charming Flushing Cove only 150 yards from your front door. This beautiful property is simply perfect for spending time in, on, or near the water - whether it be wild swimming or in your heated pool, sailing, kayaking, blustery walks along the coastal path or getting back to nature with the ones you love, this is hidden Cornwall at its best.
This gorgeous property has been very comfortably refurbished by the owner, light and airy in the summer but cosy and homely in the winter. Sheltering in this romantic Cornish landscape you will find your true holiday destination. As you enter the property it spans out in front of you, the kitchen has everything you might need to prepare a feast, a large American fridge/freezer, and a gas range cooker along with the all-essential coffee machine, so don't forget your pods, the owner kindly provides you with one pack of Nespresso pods for your arrival.
Leading off the kitchen, past the drinks counter with built-in fridge, is the large dining-room which seats 12 people (please watch your step and mind your head on the ceiling). Open the bi-fold doors in the warmer months where steps lead down to the pool area, or just enjoy taking in the view through the picture windows.
The cosy sitting-room has a simply gorgeous sofa to sink into with views over the pool, garden and of course the Helford River beyond. The wood-burning stove is just a delight for those cooler evenings and ideal after a swim in the cove.
The house has three bedrooms all with fabulous super-king size beds and White Company linen; the main bedroom boasts the best views of course and an en suite bathroom. The further two bedrooms each have their own shower-room and 'zip and link' beds that can be configured as two singles if required and every bathroom has lovely Faith and Nature soap and shower gel too. There is also a handy study space should you need to work on holiday or perhaps tuck yourself away to carry out research for your adventure planning (please watch your head on the low ceiling when descending the stairs from the study to the entrance hall).
The annexe, just across from the front door, provides the perfect extra living space for larger parties, teenagers or grandparents. Set above the garage on the first floor it is your own little slice of tranquility. There is a super-king bed (also 'zip and link'), shower-room, kitchenette and living-room with views over the house and to the sea. There's occasional sleeping for an extra two guests on the day beds in the annexe, please let our Booking Office know if you require these beds when booking.
The garden and outside space really is just extraordinary, the heated outdoor pool is the perfect place to sit back and relax, lounging with a good book and a G&T in hand. Please do take care around the pool as it is not fenced (heated from 1st May to the end of October, the temperature does fluctuate a few degrees with the ambient temperature). If you fancy trying your hand at cooking outdoors there is a wood-fired barbecue waiting for your steaks, sit around the fire-pit after your scrummy meal and enjoy watching the evening draw in, with the sound of birds and the trickle of water from the pond (which again is not fenced). The orchard at the bottom of the garden is filled with wildflowers, follow the mown path to the secret gate at the bottom of the garden and wander down to the cove. There is also a little garden hut with a day bed and lovely views, perhaps take your painting kit away with you and see what inspires you. Or doze in a deck chair on the lawn while watching the resident buzzard making lazy circles in the sky.
Babes in arms up to six months old are welcome.
Found through narrow leafy lanes, Marnylunn is a really tranquil haven, a true destination property. Flushing Cove is only 200 yards from the house where wild swimming or kayaking at any time of the year is wonderful, with some of the best wildlife sightings to be had in the cooler months. The South West Coast Path is a stone's throw from your front door too. If you fancy trying sailing, paddle boarding or kayaking you can hire the equipment from Sailaway in St Anthony in Meneage and get it delivered right to the cove at the bottom of the hill (www.sailawaystanthony.co.uk). There are many lovely places to discover nearby however you might just not want to leave your little slice of heaven.
